COURSE DESCRIPTION: Students will develop their skills and knowledge of technology and digital design in its modern forms, allowing them to link technology to their daily lives in a smart way,

and find appropriate solutions to any problem that may face them in a creative way.

OBJECTIVES: As a result of this course, you will be able to:


1- Problem Solving: Solve communication problems and carry projects from creation through to the production process; including the skills of problem identification, research and
information gathering, analysis, generation of alternative solutions, prototyping, user testing, integration of feedback and the evaluation of outcomes.
2- Communication. Describe and respond to the audiences and contexts, which communication solutions must address, including recognition of the physical, cognitive, cultural, and
social human factors that shape design decisions.
3- Demonstration. Create and develop visual concepts in response to communication problems, including an understanding of the principles of visual organization, information
hierarchy, symbolic representation, typography, aesthetics, and the construction of original meaningful forms.
4- Technique. Understand tools and technology, including their roles in the creation, reproduction, and distribution of visual messages. Relevant tools and technologies include
drawing, offset printing, photography, and time-based and interactive media.
5- Application. Be able both to determine the mode(s) of production required to achieve a specific product and to demonstrate level-appropriate mastery of skills, manual and/or
digital, necessary to achieve those products. Apply the principles of color, composition, hierarchy, typography as they relate in the various media—digital, print, motion, 3-D, etc.—that exist in
design.
6- Aesthetic Fluency. Recognize and apply aesthetic principles of design history, theory, and criticism from a variety of perspectives, including those of art history, linguistics,
communication and information theory, technology, and the social and cultural use of design objects.
7- Professionalism. Understand the basic business practices and trade ethics related to graphic arts, including the ability to organize design projects and to work productively in client-
designer and team relationships in the implementation and evaluation of projects.
8- Portfolio. Organize and present a portfolio of work that gives evidence of the skills, knowledge,

ONLINE CLASSROOM RULES:
CD players, cell phones, gum, food or drinks are not allowed in class.
Students need to be on time for class and prepared for the instructional time and activities.
Tardis and missing bell ringers will bring down a significant percentage of the total grade.
Students are expected to complete all the assignments they are given.
Quality work is expected for every assignment.
Students must adhere to the Dress Code Policy, and always show appropriate language, manners and behavior at all times. (Those are for face to face policies)

COMMUNICATION:

Students may contact teachers via email and/or schedule a Google Meet.

If present on campus, students may schedule an appointment with the teacher.

In case of absence, students may contact the teacher via email and check the material posted on Google Classroom or

CELL PHONES, COMPUTERS, AND OTHER ELECTRONIC DEVICES: Explain your policy on devices, including any information about whether exceptions are made for students with
accommodations

All assignments are due at the beginning of the period when the tardy bell rings. You must write legibly or I will not accept your work. Spiral bound paper will not be accepted. Correct heading is required as follows in the upper
right hand corner of your paper or your work will not be accepted: Name

MAKEUP WORK:
For regular daily assignments you will have two days to make up your work if your absence is excused. I will not pursue you for makeup work, the responsibility is yours. You may also ask a trusted and responsible classmate for
makeup work. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO ASK FOR AND COMPLETE MAKEUP WORK EITHER BEFORE OR AFTER CLASS.
LATE WORK POLICY:
Late daily assignments and homework will receive not credit at all. A tardy to class will give you only half credit for your work. Projects and other large presentations or assignments will drop one letter grade per day up to 3 days. I
am under absolutely no obligation to grant one single point for any work that arrives to me late, please keep that in mind.

PARTICIPATION:
You will have numerous opportunities to accumulate participation specific points throughout the school year. I will carry a specific sheet for participation points and inform students when the opportunity to accumulate participation
points has begun at a specific time in class. Failure to follow class procedures, arriving tardy or unprepared to class, and other unacceptable behavior will greatly hurt your class participation grade.
