Your Child as an IB Learner

Teacher: Miss Kelly Campbell

It has been such a joy to teach Jenna this term! Jenna enters the classroom each day with a positive attitude and smile on her
face. She is up to the challenge each day in her learning experiences. She is a caring classmate who displays a community
spirit. She is consistently one of the first to offer help or supplies to her classmates in need. Jenna is an active listener during
discussions and does well with contributing her viewpoints in group discussions. She is able to clearly and confidently
communicate her thoughts whether it is input on a class topic or asking for help. This term Jenna received the Learner Profile
award for open-mindedness. She does this by showing her enthusiasm for all lessons whether easy or challenging for her.
Additionally, Jenna takes constructive criticism and feedback from others appropriately. She is a principled student who only
needs to be told directions once and follows them. She is someone I constantly praise for following instructions and being
ready for the next activity. Jenna always works hard and puts forth her best effort. I know she will do well in Grade 5 because
of her determination and the fantastic mindset she enters school with each day!

Next Step: To be a risk-taker and independently seek lines of inquiry.

Jenna does well with reading a wide range of texts using a natural rhythm and phrasing to reflect her understanding.
Because of this, Jenna can look to add expression when reading. In writing, she demonstrates an increased
understanding of grammar by using proper sentence structure and punctuation where needed. Jenna does well when
writing a story but needs to continue working on different perspectives. She is starting to develop a neater handwriting
style however this can be an area to focus on next year.

Jenna is continuing to grow in her confidence in Maths. She does well to follow along with lessons and is starting to
show comfort in participating more often. She does well to remain organised in her workbook when showing her steps,
such as lining up place values correctly. Jenna can work on mastering her computation and multi-step problems. From
word problems, she is able to recognise and use the correction operations needed, however she can get mixed up with
her computation.

Next Step: To master fluency in multiplication and division facts.

Teacher: Mrs Dearbhla McAuliffe

Jenna is a pleasant but quiet student in Spanish class. She tends to lose concentration during group oral work and can
then find herself at a loss when asked to contribute. However, with teacher support, she is generally able to provide an
answer. When Jenna joined our group first, she was understandably a little nervous to answer in front of the class. It is
great to see that she is more comfortable now but I would like to see Jenna being even more of a risk-taker – it is
important to remember that we are all learning and making mistakes is just part of the process.

Next Step: To further enhance her knowledge of topics covered before she joined our class, I suggest that Jenna use the
songs and games on Rockalingua to go over topics such as numbers, colours and parts of the body.

has shown an open-minded attitude; she is always eager to try new things and put new concepts into practice. Jenna
has begun to contribute more confidently during singing activities.

Jenna is a caring and well-mannered student. She is open-minded and has been developing her communication skills
throughout each lesson. This year, Grade 4 students have explored themes such nature and still life. They have looked
at the artwork created by Georgia O’Keefe as well as exploring how to show tone and value in their pencil sketches.
Jenna created a wonderful pencil sketch of a still life composition. She showed good understanding when sketching out
the shapes of the objects to make them look 3D and realistic.

Next Step: To continue to add darker tones and shadows to her pencil studies.

Jenna has made really good progress in a range of fundamental movement skills in PSPE this year. Her hand-eye
coordination in badminton has improved and this has led to greater success in continuing rallies with her partner. Jenna
displays an open-minded approach through her willingness to try new activities with a positive mindset. Jenna also
shows her caring side in the way she communicates with her peers.

Next Step: To take her practical performances to the next level, Jenna should focus on her positioning in team sports,
taking advantage of more space to receive the ball.

Jenna is an inquisitive and enthusiastic member of our Dance and Drama class. She is developing her ability to match
her dance movements with different rhythms, specifically within our Tap dance lessons. Jenna began to build her
confidence through our Stomp performance. Although she is sometimes hesitant when learning unfamiliar concepts,
Jenna has become a consistent risk-taker in class. Well done on a fantastic year of creative accomplishments in Dance
and Drama, Jenna!

Next Step: To keep improving confidence when presenting dance and drama creations to peers.
