MATERIALS AND TOOLS:
Original yarn:
Yarn Art Jeans (color 05,71 )
approx. 90 yards in total.

Suggested yarn: Sport, Baby

Hook: 2.00 mm 60 mm
Rattle accessories:
24 mm
• 6 cm / 2.5” diameter wooden ring
• 24 mm / 1” rattle ball
Notions: fiberfill for stuffing,
sewing needle and pins, scissors.

Gauge: 24 stitches and 25 rows = 4’’ (10cm) in sc. Always use a crochet
hook size that will result in the correct gauge after blocking.

SIZE:
When using similar materials,
the rattle diameter will be ~ 2 1/2” (6 cm)
high with ring will be ~ 5 1/2” (14 cm).

Wooden ring diameter ~ 2 1/2” (6 cm)

*The size is perfect for little hands and helps baby to develop
sensory awareness the hardness of the wood and the softness
of the yarn. It will aid baby to develop it's fine motor skills.

*Babies will love to chew the wood and to soothe aching gums.

Magic ring There are a few different ways to make a magic
ring, which is also called `adjustable ring`. You
should create a loop that you work your
stitches into, and then fasten the loop shut by
pulling it`s tail.

Make the second ear.

3 BODY
Working in rows.
Start with foundation chain.
NOTE that you may need to increase or decrease the number of rows
to match your wooden ring. It should `hug` wooden ring completely.
Chain 25.
Rows 1-9: 24 sc, ch 1 and turn [fig 7]
Cut the yarn leaving a long tail for sewing. Wrap the ring and sew along
[fig 8].

4 MANE
Take the brown yarn.
Start with foundation chain. Note that you may need to increase or
decrease the number of chain to match lion head. It should `hug`
head completely [fig 9]

Chain ±50
Row 1: ch 2, 1 dc in the 3rd ch from the hook, rep(2 dc in the next
ch)*till the end, turn.
Row 2: ch 1, rep(4 sc, 3 ch)* till the end of the row [fig 10,11]
Cut the working yarn leaving a long tail for sewing.

5 ASSEMBLING
1. Attach the head to the middle of the body.
And sew it, firmly as you can, so it doesn’t move when shaking [fig 12].
2. Straighten the mane and sew it tightly to the head. The mane should
frame the muzzle in a circle, in the upper part pass through the middle
of the head, and in the lower part pass between the head and the body
in front. The ends of the mane should converge at the bottom of the
head (if the length permits, then make a slight overlap) [fig 13].

3. Fold the ears in half lengthwise. Sew the ears between rows 6 and 9
[fig 14,15].

4. Take black yarn and embroider the nose and eyes. Please, refer to the
pictures! [fig 16].
Embroider the eyes at a distance of 1 sc to the side of the horizontal line
of the nose with inverted check marks.
Make sure the muzzle is symmetrical J
Also, if desired, we embroider check marks on the forehead to match
the mane.

Please sew all pieces tightly because a baby will


play with it!
Do not leave toys unattended in the crib!
