(ii) It is not easy to fix the matches of rounds.100
1. Organizing Committee
Pre Work : Does all the Planning for the success of the tournament; to get approvals from
higher authority; to discuss Budget and getting approvals; to make arrangements of
equipments (considering the available or to be purchased like Ground equipments, Official
Table equipments, Ceremony equipments, certificates; medals etc); to make fixtures; to form
various committees and its staffing; drafting the rules and regulations; eligibility Performa
and consent letter to various institutions for participation.
During : To coordinate with different committees for smooth conduct of the tournament;
checking of Performa and players, authentic age; to handle immediate problems; to deal with
protests / objections etc.
Post Work : To give vote of thanks to the concerned, to make the final budget reports and
expenses details to higher authorities, etc.
Headed by Chairperson and managed by Convener or Organizing Secretary.
The prime work of Organizing committee is to do all the Planning work for the success of the
tournament; to get approvals from higher authority; to discuss the Budget and getting
approvals for the tournament etc.
2. Technical Committee
Pre Work : To do all arrangements over the playfield as technical requirement like
score-sheet, official table equipments of the game.
During : To check and conduct tournament/ matches as per rules and schedule, to perform
duty as Referee/Umpiring duty; during the game; to handle Table official duty; to manage the
Timekeeper duty; to fill score-sheets, to check the scoreboard as per score-sheet, etc. to
handle the technical disputes; to deal with protests/ objections etc;
Post Work: To make the report of the tournament; to inform the success of the tournament to
the concerned game Federation/ Association.
Headed by Chief Official and Officials like Referees, Umpires, Judges, Time-keepers etc.
Works under Organizing Committee. Their prime works are to check the technical aspects
like playfield and its marking; equipments procurement; helps in making fixture and conduct
of matches.
3.Finance Committee
Pre Work: To get details of approximate expenses under various headings and make Budget
accordingly; to get approvals and sanctions from higher authorities; plans for raising funds
by sponsorship etc.
During : To provide funds for purchase of sports equipments, stationary, medals, certificates
etc; to collect funds for meals from the teams, accounting and managing the expenses etc.
Post Work: To maintain records / bills of purchase, payments etc; to prepare exact financial
report of the tournament.
Works under Organizing Committee. Their prime works are to make Budget, its approval and
its sanctions; managing purchase, payments to officials, accounting; raising funds by
sponsorship for tournament.
8. Certificate Committee
Pre Work: To collect certificates from the Organizing Secretary; get instructions regarding
filling of certificates.
During: To write certificates beautifully and carefully; to give the participation certificates to
non-positioned teams and merit certificates to winning teams; to maintain records of
certificates.
Post Work: To maintain details of issuing certificates, return the unused and damaged
certificates to the Organizing Secretary.
10.Transportation Committee
Pre Work : To plan for pick-up of arriving teams.
During : To provide transportation for the out-stationed teams and departing teams.
Post Work: To make the detailed reports of transportation during tournament and inform the
concerned authority.

Ans. League tournament is a better way to judge the best team of the tournament because
of the following reasons:
(i) The deserving team wins the tournament, i.e. it decides the true winner.
(ii) Every team or player gets
maximum opportunity to demonstrate its efficiency.
(iii) A team or a player needs not to win each and
every match.
(iv) The spectators get ample amount of time to
enjoy the full tournament.
(v) Selection of players for future tournaments is done at an optimum level and with full
satisfaction.

Ans. The function of sports event management are as follows:
Ans. Combination tournaments are conducted when the matches are to played on group
basis or zonal basis. In this tournament, the initial rounds are played on particular basis
