COURSE OUTLINE

COURSE TITLE Applied Mathematics-II

Course Code As specified in program credit scheme

Credits 4

Faculty Name Faculty teaching across multiple campuses

Program Applicable to different engineering diploma programs

Academic Year and
2021-2022, 2nd Semester
Semester

1. Course Description
The key concept of the syllabus is to promote skill-oriented education on the basis of NSQF objectives. It enables
learners to acquire mathematical proficiency essential for dealing with the basic concepts of engineering and
technical knowledge. The curriculum is designed keeping in view the entry level psyche of the students with the
idea of easy comprehension of fundamental mathematical principles.

2. Student Learning Outcomes

At the end of this course, students should be able to:

● Learn about basics of matrices and determinants, different operations and solution techniques for
systems of the simultaneous equations by using Cramer’s rule, Matrix method etc. and apply the
same in multi-tasking developmental projects.
● Acquire the basic theory of vectors, their addition and subtraction, cross and dot product of two
vectors and apply the same in solving the problems of Mechanics on moment of a force about a
point and work done by a force.
● Evaluate integrals using substitution method, partial fractions, by parts etc. and apply the
techniques of integration in a variety of problems in engineering fields.
● Understand the Fundamental Theorem of Integral Calculus and apply it to evaluate definite
integrals.
● Learn about various techniques for solving the differential equations and use this knowledge to
solve problems concerning various engineering models.

6. Academic Integrity:
● Please note that students involved in academic dishonesty will receive a ZERO grade on the particular
component in which the infraction occurred.
● Academic dishonesty consists of misrepresentation by deception or by other fraudulent means. In an
academic setting this may take the form of copying or use of unauthorized aids in tests, assignments,
examinations, term papers, or cases; plagiarism; talking during in-class examinations; submission of work that
is not your own without citation; submission of work generated by another person; aiding and abetting another
student’s dishonesty; and giving false information for the purpose of gaining credits.

7. No Network Policy
Students cannot operate any network-enabled devices such as cell phones, tabs, I-pads or any other electronic
network-enabled devices inside the classroom during the sessions unless specifically instructed by the faculty. In
case you are compelled to carry it in person, you may keep it in the switched-off mode. Anyone found to operate
such devices during the session timings will be penalized as per the rules. No discussion or negotiation will be
entertained at all with respect to this.
