UNIT 1: Definition of Key Terms in Consumer Education

Activity No. 1

Direction: Please complete the paragraph by providing the correct word/s, to complete
the meaning/definition.

1. Consumer education helps people to acquire the correct information and


understanding that will help the make wise decisions when purchasing goods
and services.
2. To get vital information about products they intend to buy, consumers are
advised to conduct market survey.

Assessment

1. Who is a consumer?
Answer: We are the consumer, the one who buy a product or services that’s
what we called consumer or any individual or group of person who makes
use/purchase of the goods, products, or services for their personal, family,
social and even to the household needs. Also interms of business activities.
2. How do consumers determine “how much goods to by”?
Answer: In order to determine how much good to buy consumers should only
buy the quantity that they need. To determine, they are five consideration to
factors such as money and storage space available. This help to prevent
spoilage and wastage.
UNIT 2: Values of Consumer Education

Self-Assessment Exercise

1. Explain how consumer education can improve value for environment.


Answer: All consumers become aware that human activities are the cause of
environmental degradation. We can act cooperatively and sensitivity against
ecological problems. It enables us to take social, ecological and environmental
responsibility, with this knowledge, consumer avoid activities that may constitute
danger the environment.

2. Value for money emphasizes

a. Spending widely

Answer: Means, you should spend all your money not just on the aspect the
you only want like foods but as well consider also the things that you needed
the most, like all your needs in everyday living.

b. Spending wisely

Answer: In short be wise. In spending wisely, we should spend only our


money to the important things only that really matters to us like for
example spend our money to our daily needs in everyday living. Such as
also in using our credit card wisely, treating ourselves, make a plan, invest
for a long term and many more. Those important things that we know
that we can benefit for the ourselves and for the future.

c. Spending willingly
Answer: From the word willingly meaning in spending our money on that
certain things we are happy on doing that such as donating money to that kind
of organization, helping those people affected by typhoon such as buying foods
and all that what we spend our money willingly within our heart.

d. Spending for wellness.


Answer: We could spend our money wellness through counseling,
health insurance, health supplements, nutrition classes, fitness
coaching those things that we think that very meaningful and we can
see an improvement by doing it so.

UNIT 3: RIGHTS OF CONSUMER

Self-Assessment Exercise

Outline the rights of the consumer.


1. Explain the meaning of following:

a. Right to safety protection.

Answer: Meaning as a consumer, we have the rights to be protected against


products and services that may cause danger into our life. By that, we consumer
have the right to safety, the right to be informed, to choose, to be heard and
many more. That's why in choosing product that we buy, should not harm us
when we used it correctly. In order for that to do, we should always check first
and read the instructions given.

b. Right to redresser

Answer: As a consumer, we have the right to repair, replace and refund or what
we called redressed or complain about the products or services which we find it
unsatisfactory. We all have the rights to compensated for faulty products that
we purchased. We also deserve the compensation of shady goods and
unsatisfactory public and private services. This right also ensure that
consumers have right to change faulty products or refund money for faulty
products or free repair of them.

2. Rights to healthy environment is concerned about consumer protection from

a. Healthy environment

Answer: That's why we have the right to access to the basic, essential goods
and services, adequate food, clothing, shelter, health care, education, public
utilities, water and sanitation. We as a consumer, have the right to live and
work in a healthy environment that does not expose us to danger of diseases
and pollutios which could affect our health.
b. Safe environment

Answer: Consumers have the rights to safety environment The human


right to a safe and healthy environment. The human right to the highest
attainable standard of health. The human right to ecologically
sustainable. To avoid danger or hazard into our life including the food
that we eat that's why we should always be careful and responsible of all
the products that we buy.

c. Hazardous environment

Answer: As a consumer, we should be aware of environmental hazard


because it could threaten us and in our surroundings that could affect
people's health such as pollution, and many more.

d. Protected environment

Answer: We love in the environment that's why we should also the one to
protect and improve the environment for the present and future generations.
In this protected environment include, the right to be freedom and equality of
life and well being.
