POWER ON AND LOGIN TO YOUR WINDOWS SERVER VIRTUAL MACHINE.


Exercise 1. Installing the DHCP Role
1. On the Server Manager, click on Add roles and features.

2. Before you begin: Click Next on the Before you begin page.
3. Select installation type: The Role-based or feature-based installation is already
selected. Click Next.
4. Select Destination Server: The local server is already selected. Click Next.
5. Select Server Roles: Select DHCP Server and click Add Features on the pop-up. Then
click Next.

6. Select Features: Click Next.


7. DHCP Server: Read the text, then click Next.
8. Confirm installation selections: Click Install.
Take screen shot #1 showing the installation completed successfully.
9. When the installation is complete, the DHCP server must be configured. Click on
Complete DHCP configuration. This will launch the DHCP Post–Install configuration
wizard.

10. Description: Click Next.


11. Authorization: Verify that Use the following user’s credentials is selected and that the
user name specified is that of the domain administrator. Click Commit.

12. Summary: Ensure that the configuration completed successfully.


Take screen shot # 2 showing the Summary screen. Then click Close.

13. Note that if the ‘Add Roles and Features Wizard’ is still open on the Installation progress
page, you can Close before proceeding to the next exercise.

Exercise 2. Adding a DHCP Scope


1. Open the DHCP manager from the Server Manager: Tools→DHCP

2. In the DHCP Manager, expand the server node windows-fs1234.shafique.local (in my


machine) if it is not already expanded. Right-click on IPv4 and click on New Scope... The
New Scope Wizard will launch.

3. Welcome to the New Scope Wizard: Click Next.


4. Scope Name: In the Name text box type your last name (e.g. shafique). In the
Description type CNET222 Scope. Click Next.

5. IP Address Range: Enter the following information and click Next.


a. Start IP address: 172.16.0.50
b. End IP address: 172.16.0.100
c. Length: 16
d. Subnet mask: 255.255.0.0

6. Add Exclusions and Delay: Leave everything blank and click Next.
7. Lease Duration: Leave it at the default 8 days and click Next.
8. Configure DHCP Options: Select Yes, I want to configure these options now and click
Next.
9. Router (Default Gateway): Enter the IP address 172.16.0.2 then click Add. Click Next.

10. Domain Name and DNS Server: Enter your domain name for the Parent domain (e.g.
shafique.local), if it is not already specified. Type IP address 172.16.0.10 and click Add.
Allow the wizard to validate the DNS server IP. Then click Next.

11. WINS Server: Click Next.


12. Activate Scope: Select Yes, I want to activate this scope now and click Next.

13. Completing the New Scope Wizard: Click Finish. The new scope should appear in the
list of scopes under IPv4.

14. Close all windows.

Submit your Word Document to the correct Assignment Folder.

Shut down you Virtual Machine

Make sure you have all your work on your external USB hard disk.

You are done!
