LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION
I wholeheartedly endorse Eugene for entrance to your undergraduate program. It is with great
pleasure and honor to recommend such a goal driven, resourceful, intelligent and compassionate
young man who has a clear sense of direction and purpose. As his school counselor for the past
four years, I have witnessed the exceptional contributions that Kingsley has made to our school
society. Being the counselor at this school has exposed me to a lot of students, and it is
instructive to make note of Eugene’s uncommon scholarly executions and willingness. He is
unassuming and has an uncanny ability to weave into people’s hearts. As a student of numerous
qualities, he has earned the full commitment and respect of his teachers, students, peers, and
even myself.
The articulate nature of Eugene as portrayed in the annual science and technology fair, earned
him a spot on my “to watch list.” He was very brave and outspoken, ready to defend his research
and convince his audience about his fascination with science. After I drew close to him, I
realized he had a deep passion for mathematics and science. I closely watched how this student
grew through a process of self-directed intellectual engagement amidst all the struggles in his
personal and social life. This desire made him very exceptional and catapulted him into joining
the school’s robotics club. Soon after his willingness to accept responsibility and his
innovativeness were recognized, he was painted out to be selected as the president of the club.
His resourcefulness not only improved him but also affected the lives of those around him either
directly or indirectly. Later, it was recorded in his books of awards that he was the winner of the
intra-school robotics competition. He always despised self-interest and yearned to see his
colleagues find their goals and fit into the school’s society.
Aside from his intellectual prowess, Eugene is very cooperative and dependable. No wonder; he
was a member of the school’s National Science and Math Quiz (NSMQ) team. He served as peer
tutor and made sure there was order in the team, and materials which the team lacked was
brought to quick notice to form and build the team. His incredible abilities as a contestant led
him and the entire team to win the first runner-up position in the regional championship on
behalf of the school. Kingsley always made sure there was something innovative and compelling
to be achieved. He deemed it a great honor to be the vice-president of the Math and Science Club
in the school. Coached students in various aspects of math, mechanics and applied physics, even
though some were not part of the school’s curriculum; he was unrestrained and learned them for
the sake of his colleagues and juniors. Average grades of students under his tuition increased
from C to B’s and A’s. He is a clear example of someone who views academics as a means not
to achieve a higher GPA but as a platform to better himself and people around him.
As a concerned student, Eugene demonstrated his imaginative skills and swiftness in getting
solutions to both social and academic problems. He always had an upper hand in considering the
wellbeing and social justice of students. He could handle misunderstandings to promote peace
and equity on campus. He was appointed as a peer counselor for the school even though we had
never considered such a position, Kingsley’s care for students on campus compelled the students
to ask for him as their peer counselor. During his stay at the school, he preached about social
equity and practiced social justice, which has been his sole aim to date. This helped reduce
stereotypes and favoritism in the school’s student administrative body. Eugene always found a
way to digest a formula, be it mathematics or physics, to make studying easier for him and his
colleagues. Such an effective and creative ability he has.
Though intellectually good, Eugene liked to get his boots dirty on the pitch. He vehemently
joined the school’s soccer club and brought “light” to the team. He was very persistent in all his
games to always put the team at the top. He always tells me, “Sir, we are bringing the trophy
home this year,” no matter how many times he lost the previous years. Some of his teammates
and even his coach say, “You can’t be sad when you play with Eugene.” Though he is very
determined when it comes to academics, it is amazing that he is so much into soccer.
When it comes to moving rhythmically to music, Eugene an expert, not because he is talented
but because he can’t go a day without dancing to entertain himself and most of the people around
him. Dance is the hidden language of his soul. Through dance, he communicates his inner being.
He always brought amusement anywhere he found himself with his impressive dancing skills. He
didn’t just dance for fun; he took part in an afro-dance competition and won a notable amount of
money to help foster service projects and volunteering in the school’s community.
Eugene has my highest recommendation. I know that he will continually impress you with his
involvement in the school community, his unshakable resilience, and his focus on academic and
career success. While the study of mathematics and engineering can be a competitive field to
break into, Eugene has a singular commitment, drive, and passion to develop his talents to the
utmost. I am confident that he will bring the same warmth, support, and hard work to his college
classes and social community. I can’t wait to see what dynamic and challenging roles lie in
Eugene’s future. Please do not hesitate to contact me for any further information.
Sincerely,
Mr David Siaw
