FEASIBILITY & SUITABILITY CHECK

Is your research problem feasible (practical or
doable)? Is it suitable (appropriate)?
Cheng, et,al, 2009

This all boils down to foresight - taking the time to plan and
assess your options right at the start, instead of plunging
headlong into what could turn out to be a hugely problematic
undertaking. Imagine getting halfway through, then being
forced to employ drastic changes to salvage your project that
was impractical and unsuitable in the first place. Avoid such a
scenario by analyzing a suggested method for feasibility and
suitability based on the following criteria.
Criteria Description Yes No

 Is there a sufficient body of

literature on the subject?

Sources of  Are these sources readily

information available?

 Is it easy to look for and to

consult with experts on the
subject area?

 Will it not take a very long time to
complete your project?

 If you are on a limited budget, will
there be sources for funding (e.g.,
grants or sponsorships) available to
you?
Criteria Description Yes No

 Are your abilities and interests

Skills and sufficient to allow you to work
knowledge on the problem?

• Are the experiments specified in your

project safe to perform?
 If your project involves human
Hazards / participants, have you considered what

involved they will not be put at risk?
 What about the environment? If, for

leaves and shoot height of Tomatoes (Lycopersicon esulentum, Miller) that are
comparable to the effects of commercial fertilizers (Calcium Nitrate).
