VERB
VERBS ARE WORDS THAT DESCRIBE AN ACTION OR TALK ABOUT
SOMETHING THAT HAPPENS. THEY TAKE MANY DIFFERENT FORMS
DEPENDING ON THEIR SUBJECTS, THE TIME THEY REFER TO AND OTHER
IDEAS WE WANT TO EXPRESS.

A verb is a word that indicates a physical action (e.g.,

“drive”), a mental action (e.g., “think”), or a state of being
(e.g., “exist”). Every sentence contains a verb. Verbs are
almost always used along with a noun or pronoun to
describe what the noun or pronoun is doing.
Grammat structure
Most of the time in English Verb Structure the main verb, which tells
the action of the sentence, is preceded by another verb, called an
auxiliary verb. This puts the action of the main verb in the proper
context.

STRUCTURE OF VERB
LINK VERBS HAVE THE STRUCTURE NOUN + VERB + ADJECTIVE (SHE LOOKS HAPPY)
OR NOUN + VERB + NOUN (HE BECAME A TEACHER).
SOME TWO-PART VERBS CAN HAVE THE STRUCTURE NOUN + VERB + PARTICLE +
NOUN (SHE GAVE BACK THE MONEY) OR NOUN + VERB + NOUN + PARTICLE (SHE
GAVE THE MONEY BACK).
Regular Verb
A regular verb is a verb that follows a common pattern of conjugation.
The past tense of a regular verb is formed by adding an 'ed' or 'd' to the
root verb and the past participle form of the verb is the same as its past
form

ADJECTIVES

AN ADJECTIVE IS A WORD
THAT DESCRIBES THE
FEATURES, QUALITIES, OR
NUMBER OF A NOUN.

Are words that describe the qualities or

states of being of nouns: huge, dog-like,
silly, yellow, fun, fast. They can also
describe the number of nouns: many,
few, millions, eleven.
USES OF ADJECTIVES
Adjectives tell the reader what kind of something you are
talking about, or how much or how much of something
you are talking about.

Examples: Use three white flowers in the arrangement.

Three and white are modifier flowers.

Often when adjectives are used together, you must

separate them with a comma or conjunction.
See "Coordinate Adjectives" below for more details.
DEGREES OF ADJECTIVES

But as we have seen, adjectives do not need
to be together with nouns to modify them;
they can do so after a connecting verb in a
sentence, like predicative adjectives.
