Audiophile Networked Audio Player Models N-30 and N-50

Firmware Update Procedure by USB Storage Device

Use this procedure to update the unit’s firmware using a USB storage device. This procedure is also on page 20 of the
Operating Instructions. If you have any difficulty carrying out these instructions, please call Pioneer’s Customer Support
Center toll free in the USA at 1-800-421-1404 for assistances.

Required Items:
 USB Storage device formatted FAT 16 or 32 and no files or folders stored on the device.
 The latest Firmware Update file “NAP12Main_1038.zip”. This can be downloaded from Pioneer’s website at:
http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Home/Audio-Components/Hi-Fi+Audio
Page down to find your model number and select it.
Page down and select the FIRMWARE tab on the left side of the page.
Select the Firmware Update file and save it to a folder on your PC. The file will be in the ZIP format.

Important
 DO NOT unplug the power cord of the Networked Audio Player during the update process.
 DO NOT disconnect the USB storage device during update process.

1. Unzip the Firmware Update file 5. The following screen is displayed


“NAP12Main_1038.zip” and copy the unzipped file
“NAP12Main_1038.bcd” to the root directory of the
USB storage device.
2. Insert the USB storage device into the iPod/USB
connector on the front panel of the Player.
3. Turn the Player on and using the remote control press
SETUP. The Initial Setup screen is displayed on the
main Display. Press ENTER to start the update.
The display will temporarily disappear, and after about
twenty seconds, the update progress bar will be
displayed and update will begin.
6. When the update is completed, the unit will
automatically reboot.
7. Remove the USB storage device.
8. Confirm the update was successful. Using the remote
control press SETUP, then select System Info and press
4. Select Option Setting and press ENTER. Scroll down
ENTER, scroll down to Release ID: and confirm it is
to select Software Update and press ENTER.
“1.020”.

Select Start and then press ENTER.


9. Finished.
