1. Definite Article (Article Défini): (le, la l’,les) the


The definite article in French is used to refer to specific nouns, indicating that we're talking
about something particular. It's like saying "the" in English. For example:
Le père (the Father )
Le - Le chat (The cat) (masculine,singular)
La - la maison (The house) (singular, feminine )
La – la fille (the girl) (féminine, singular)
Les- les enfants(The children) plural and plural words are identified usually with s at the end
of a word
L’- L’orange (is used in words beginning with vowelse.g (a, e i,o ,u,h) singular)
L’- L’ami (The Friend)
EXAMPLE : La fille mange du pain. (The girl is eating some bread.)
-Le Garçon mange du pain. (The boy is eating some bread)
- Les oranges sont dans le panier (The oranges are in the basket)

2. Indefinite Article (Article Indéfini) : ( UN ,UNE ,DES ) (a)


The indefinite article in French is used to refer to nonspecific nouns, indicating that we're
talking about any one of a group. It's like saying "a" or "an" in English. For example:

Un chien (A dog) (masculine /singilar )


Une fleur (A flower)( feminine/ singular )
Des livres (Some books) (plural) (singular / plural)
EXAMPLE :

Un garçon joue dans le parc. (A boy is playing in the park.)
3. Partitive Article (Article Partitif):
The partitive article in French is used to refer to an unspecified quantity or part of
something. It's like saying "some" or "a portion of" in English. For example: (du,de la ,des )

Du pain (Somebread)
De la salade (Somesalad)
Des pommes (Someapples)
