GRADE 8 MATHEMATICS PROJECT

Due date: First class for the week of April 25 – 29, 2022

In groups, students are to create an online booklet (Google Docs, Slides etc) with well labelled
diagrams for each section. It must contain the following:

 Cover page (include your name, form class and teacher’s name)

 Table of Contents

 Define lines, line segments and rays ( give examples of each) (3 marks)

 Define parts of a circle (with diagrams) (7 marks)


o circumference, arc, radius, chord, diameter, segment, sector

 Define parallel and perpendicular lines, giving diagrams of real life examples (4 marks)

 Define and give one example of each type of angle (5 marks)


o acute, right, straight, obtuse, reflex

 Definition of polygons (4 marks)


o Must include the difference between regular and non-regular polygons
o Give the specific names of two regular polygons

 Names of polygons up to 12 sides (5 marks)


o Must include 2 pictures (one regular and one non-regular) for each type of
polygon

 Types of triangles and their properties


(include one picture of each) (6 marks)
o equilateral, isosceles, scalene, right, acute, obtuse

 Types of quadrilaterals and their properties


(include one picture of each) (16 marks)
o square, rectangle, rhombus, parallelogram, trapezium, kite
o “All squares are rectangles but not all rectangles are squares”. Explain.
o “All squares are rhombuses but not all rhombuses are squares”. Explain.
