How many child(ren) does Ari’s mother have?

Answer: 5
𝑀𝑎𝑟𝑖𝑎 (𝐴𝑟𝑖) + 2 𝑜𝑙𝑑𝑒𝑟 𝑏𝑟𝑜𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑟 + 𝑡𝑤𝑖𝑛 𝑦𝑜𝑢𝑛𝑔𝑒𝑟 𝑠𝑖𝑠𝑡𝑒𝑟
1+2+2=5

3. Tomorrow is the 3rd of December 2222 and that is Wednesday. What is the
day 3 weeks and 3 days after?

Answer: Friday
Since tomorrow is Wednesday, today is Tuesday.
Three weeks after Tuesday is still Tuesday.
Three days after Tuesday is Friday.

4. According to the pattern shown below, what is the number in the blank?
3 5 7 2 4 3 5 7 2 4 3 5 7 2 4 3 5 7 2 4 3 5 7 2 4 3 5 ___ 2

Answer: 7
3 5 7 2 4 3 5 7 2 4 3 5 7 2 4 3 5 7 2 4 3 5 7 2 4 3 5 ___ 2
Following the pattern, the number in the blank should be 7.

5. Which one is the puzzle to fit in position K?

A.

B.
K
C.

Answer: C

Arithmetic
6. Find the value of 11 + 12 + 10 + 11 + 12 + 10 + 11 + 12 + 10 + 11.
Answer: 110
11 + 11 + 11 + 11 = 44
12 + 12 + 12 = 36
10 + 10 + 10 = 30
-------
110

7. Find the value of 202 − 97 − 17 + 7.

Answer: 95
202 − 97 − 17 + 7
= 105 − 17 + 7
= 88 + 7
= 95
8. Find the value of 12 + 1122 + 111222 + 1212.
Answer: 113568
12 + 1122 + 111222 + 1212
= 1134 + 111222 + 1212
= 2346 + 111222
= 113568
9. If X and Y are both 1-digit number, find the value of 5X – 5Y.
Y X
+ Y Y
5 1
Answer: 35
Looking at the tens place and analyzing the problem we can say that the
sum of the ones place is a 2-digit number since the tens place is the sum of the
value of B plus the carryover from the ones place which is 1. Hence, the 1 in the
sum of the once place is actually 11. Considering the tens place, we can say that
Y is 2, since 2 + 2 = 4 plus the carry over 1 from 11 is equal to 5, so if Y is 2 then
X is 9. 9 + 2 = 11.
So, the value of 5X – 5Y = (5×9) – (5×2) = 45 − 10 = 35.
1
2 9
+ 2 2
5 1

10. What is the number that should be filled in the blank if the blank to make
the equation below correct?
15 + ____ − 5 = 10

Answer: 0
Subtract the difference of 15 and 5. That is already 10;
15 – 5 = 10. Therefore, 15 + 0 – 5 = 10.

Number Theory
11. In Pedro’s farm there are 78 pigs, 109 snakes, and 47 chickens. How many
legs does all the animals have altogether?
Answer: 406
Pigs has 4 legs while chicken has 2. Snakes on the other hand don’t have legs.
4 × 78(𝑝𝑖𝑔𝑠) + 2 × 47(𝑐ℎ𝑖𝑐𝑘𝑒𝑛𝑠) = 312 + 94 = 406

12. How many are needed to move from the first row to the second and
third row so that the number of are equal?
First
Second
Third

Answer: 6
First
Second
Third
13. Fill the lines with ‘ + ‘ and ‘ – ‘ to make the equation below correct. (Write
down the complete equation in the answer sheet)
17____ 3 ____ 6 ____ 2 ____ 9 = 1 + 2
Answer: 7 + 3 – 6 – 2 – 9 = 3.
By trial and error method and consequently checking the answers while
placing the signs.

14. The numbers below follow the arithmetic sequence, what is the 6th
number?
98, 79, 60, 41, 22, …
Answer: 3
The pattern is just subtracting 19 to get the next number.
98 – 19 =79 41 – 19 =22
79 – 19 =60 22 – 19 =3
60 – 19 =41

15. How many even number(s) is/are there between 73 and 109? (Excluding
the both end numbers)
Answer: 18
Subtracting 109 – 73 = 36 numbers. Since we have odd and even number
means that half of the numbers are even and the other half are odd.
Dividing 36 by 2; 36 ÷ 2 = 18.

Geometry

second one is the largest.

22. Choose 2-digits. Without repetition, from 0, 5, 8, 2 and 9 to form a 2-

digit even numbers. How many different number(s) is/are there?
Answer: 9
There are 6 different 2-
digit even numbers that
can formed (58, 52, 50,
From the remaining 4 There are only 3 even
98, 92, 90, 82, 80, 20)
numbers, only 3 of it number from the
can be put in the tens choices which is 8, 2

number excluding 0.
23. Sarah has 5 $10 coins, 8 $2 coins, 14 $5 coins and 10 $1 coins. She
wants to buy some pencils from the money she has. The pencil costed $4
each, how many pencils can she buy?

Answer: 36
5 $10 coins = $50
8 $2 coins = $16
14 $5 coins = $70
10 $1 coins = $10
$146 Now, $146 ÷ $4 = 36 r. 2 meaning Miyuki can
buy 36 pencils worth $4.
