Third Quarter Module 2

Week 2
Introductory Message
For the facilitator:

This module was collaboratively designed, developed, and evaluated by the

Development and Quality Assurance Teams of SDO TAPAT to assist you in helping the
learners meet the standards set by the K to 12 Curriculum while overcoming their
personal, social, and economic constraints in schooling.

As a facilitator, you are expected to orient the learners on how to use this module. You
also need to keep track of the learners' progress while allowing them to manage their
learning. Furthermore, you are expected to encourage and assist the learners as they
do the tasks included in the module.
For the learner:

This module was designed to provide you with fun and meaningful opportunities for
guided and independent learning at your own pace and time. You will be helped to
process the contents of the learning resource while being an active learner.

The following are some reminders in using this module:

1. Use the module with care.

2. Don’t forget to answer Let’s Try before moving on to the other activities
included in the module.
3. Read the instruction carefully before doing each task.
4. Observe honesty and integrity in doing the tasks and in checking your answers.
5. Finish the task at hand before proceeding to the next.
6. Return this module to your teacher/facilitator once you are through with it.
If you encounter any difficulty in answering the tasks in this module, do not
hesitate to consult your teacher or facilitator. Always bear in mind that you are not
alone.

We hope that through this material, you will experience meaningful learning and
gain a deep understanding of the relevant competencies. You can do it!
After going through this module, you are expected to derive relationships of geometric figures
using measurements and by inductive reasoning, Supplementary Angles, Complementary
Angles, Congruent Angles, Vertical Angles, Adjacent Angles, Linear pairs, Perpendicular lines,
Parallel lines.

Activity 1: Classify each of the following angles as acute, obtuse, and right. Write
your answer below the figure.

1. 2. 3. 4. 5.

____________ ____________ ____________ ____________ ____________

Activity 2: Determine the measures of the angles represented by letters. Write your answer
below the figure.

1. 2. 3.

4
Let’s Explain

1. Two angles are supplementary if the sum of their measures is 180°.

In the given figure, m∠GEH is 60° and m∠FEH is 120°.

Solution:
m∠GEH + m∠FEH = 90°
60° + 120° = 180°

If m∠GEH is 60° and m∠FEH is 120° then they are

supplementary angles.
2. Two angles are complementary if the sum of their measures is 90°.

In the given figure, m∠BOD is 60° and m∠AOD is 30°.

Solution:
m∠BOD + m∠AOD = 90°
60° + 30° = 90°

If m∠BOD is 60° and m∠AOD is 30° then they are

complementary angles.

3. If two angles have the same measure, then they are congruent angles.

In the given figure, m ∠S = 42° and m ∠G = 42°

If m ∠S = m ∠G, then ∠S ≅ ∠G
If ∠S ≅ ∠G, then m ∠S = m ∠G
42° = 42°

4. Vertical Angles are the opposite angles formed when two lines intersect. Vertical
angles are congruent.

Try this: Find the missing angles.

∠a = 400 ∠c = 1800 – 400 ∠d = 1800 – 400
∠b =____ ∠c =____ ∠d =____

5. Two angles are adjacent if they are coplanar, have a common vertex and a common
side but have no common interior points.

∠ADB and ∠CDB share a common vertex of D and

have a common side of DB. Therefore, the two angles
are adjacent.

5
6. Two angles form a linear pair if they are both adjacent and supplementary.
∠MOL and ∠NOL are adjacent angles.
The m∠MOL is 800 and m∠NOL is 100 then they are
supplementary angles.

Therefore, the two angles form a linear pair.

7. Two lines are perpendicular if they intersect and form four right angles.

Line AB is perpendicular to line XY

In symbol, AB ⊥ XY.

8. Two lines are parallel if and only if they are coplanar and do not intersect.

Line m is parallel to line n

in symbol, m ll n.

Activity 3: Determine the relationship and give a reason from the given.

Given Relationship Reason

1. m∠A = 60° and m∠B = 120°

2. ∠E=40° and ∠D=50°

3. ∠G=80 and ∠F=80

4. Line CD intersect line EF at point M

and form four right angles.
5. ∠EDB and ∠FDB share a common
vertex of D and have a common side of
DB.

6
