All about organelles

By Gabriella zervos p5
In your body there are many
organelles or little tiny
structures that live inside
your cells. This helps your
body with different
activities.
11 organelles 1. Cell walls
2. Cell membrane
3. Nucleus
There are 11 4. Cytoplasm
organelles 5. Mitochondria
we will be 6. Endoplasmic Reticulum
7. Ribosome
talking
8. Golgi Bodies
about today. 9. Chloroplast
10. Vacuoles
11. Lysos
cell wall
Cell walls is first on are list. Only plants,
bacteria, and fungi have cell walls. Only some
protist have cell walls. They help protect and
support the cells. Cell walls also let water
and oxygen pass through easily.
The cell wall is also the rigid
layer of a plant cell.
Cell membrane
ALL CELLS HAVE A CELL MEMBRANE. Cell membranes
control what enters and leaves cells. Kinda like a
“gatekeeper” made out of lipids and proteins.
Nucleus
The nucleus is the control center that directs all
the cells. It has a chromatin which has genetic
material. It also has a nuclear membrane that
surrounds the nucleus and controls what
enters/leaves. Also the nucleus makes ribosomes.
Cytoplasm
ALL CELLS HAVE A CYTOPLASM. A
cytoplasm is a clear kinda gel like
fluid which is constantly moving. That
is between the nucleus and the cell
membrane.
Mitochondria
Everything but bacteria has a mitochondria. Its
kinda like the “powerhouse” of the cell, has a rod
shape, and produces most of the cells energy. Your
muscle cells use most the most mitochondria.
endoplasmic
reticulum
Endoplasmic reticulums are the passageways that
carry materials you need from one part of a cell to
another.
ribosome

The ribosome produces proteins. The ribosome is on

the endoplasmic reticulum and inside the cytoplasm.
Golgi bodies
The Golgi bodies are kinda like ”mailrooms” for
your proteins it receives from the endoplasmic
reticulum. after the Golgi bodies receive the
proteins it kinda repacks them so they can get
distributed around the cell.
Chloroplast
ONLY plants have a chloroplast. Chloroplast trade in energy from
the sun to create photosynthesis.
Vacuoles

MOST PLANTS cells have a vacuole Animals have more than one.
Fungi and protist also have vacuoles. Vacuoles store food, water,
and waste.
Lysosomes
Both animal and plant cells have lysosomes. Lysosomes are kinda
like the “cleaning crew” that contains chemicals that break down
food particles and old cell parts.
Now you know all about organelles.
