1. CENTER will form the huddle six yards from the ball. 2. All'players will stand with their hands at their sides facing the line of scrimmage. 3. QUARTERBACK will stand outside the huddle. When he steps into the huddle he will call the team to attention with the command, "READY".
4. In the huddle the QUARTERBACK will give: A. Formation B. Play C. Starting Count Note: If you don't hear the play, call "CHECK". Don't be a checker.
5. After the QUARTERBACK gives the starting count; CENTER, Z, and X will break the huddle. 6. QUARTERBACK will then "REPEAT" the starting count and give the command "READY-BREAK". All players will clap and say, "BREAK" with the QUARTERBACK. 7. Spring to your position and get down. 8. CENTER will call the defensive look, and TACKLES will make the blocking call.
9. Huddle discipline is the responsibility of the QUARTERBACK. 10. Substitutions sprint on and off the field (This is necessary because of stems, motions, automatics, and 25 second clock.).
11. Substitutions carrying information to the QUARTERBACK must make sure they are precise and accurate. ~ 12. Plays may also be signaled from the sideline.

III.
~
BUCKEYE CADENCE
A. THE STARTING COUNT: 1. Our count is a combination rythmic/non-rythmic. 2. The QUARTERBACK will come to the L.O.S. and immediately put both hands under the CENTER. 3. The ball can be snapped on quick, color, or on the count of one, two, etc. 4. If the ball is going to be snapped on one, two, etc., the command is,"OO".
B. CADENCE AT THE LINE-OF-SCRIMMAGE (L.O.S.): 1. At the Line of Scrimmage the QUARTERBACK will give the following commands: 2. Hit 3. Color and Play (repeat) 4. Starting Count (One, Two, etc.) C. THE SOUND. "HIT". CAN MEAN ONE OF TWO THINGS: 1. The beginning of the play when we are snapping the ball on first sound. 2. Initiates any shifts. D. ,THE COLOR SOUND CAN MEAN ONE OF TWO THINGS: 1. The beginning of the play if we are snapping the ball on the color. 2. It serves as your alert call in the check with me system. E. THE PLAY NUMBER WOULD INDICATE: 1. A dummy number 2. Changing the play in the check with me system. Example of how it sounds: . i. On QUICK "HIT"-Ball is snapped. ii. On the COLOR "HIT"~"BLUE"-Ball is snapped. iii. On ONE "HIT"-"RED 34"-"RED 34"-"00"-Ball is snapped. iv. On T\VO . "HIT"-"WHITE 25"-"WHITE 25"-"00"-"00"Ballis snapped.
F. OTHER SPECIAL SITUATIONS AT LOS: 1. DUMMY: This system can be used by calling the play in the huddle and dummy call at the line of scrimmage. Example: Huddle call would be, "DUMMY 24". Play 24 will be run, (if there is no alert call.) Line of scrimmage call could be, "BLUE 90", "BLUE 90". "00".
2. BINGO: An "ALERT" call by an offensive player when two or more WR's-RB's have moved prior to the snap--so they can come to a stop, the QB can re-initiate the cadence and we can eliminate penalties. 3. ON THE LINE FREEZE: "On the Line Freeze" means we will freeze a play at the line of scrimmage. We will try to draw the defense oflsides by going through our normal snap count sequence. If the defense jumps offsides, the CEN:rER will snap the ball and there will be a two man sneak by him and the QUARTERBACK; everyone else freezes. If not successful, the Quarterback will repeat the play t\-Vice the ball will be snapped on the "GO". and Example: Huddle Call: Formation, on the line-FREEZE "24 - ON Ga." Line of Scrimmage Call: "HIT" "RED 80"-"RED 80""GO"-"GO". Defense not drawn offsides. QB activates the play by saying "24-24"-"GO". Note: May also FREEZE and take a "TIME-OUT"
4. NO HUDDLE SEQUENCE: "On the Line" offense may be used to take advantage of opponents who do a lot of blitzing or substituting. . i. The play and formation will be called at the Line of Scrimmage by using the "Check With Me" System. ii. Series may be signaled in from the bench. iii. The starting count will always be on one. iv. Formation-emphasized during the week.
---
2. CHECK WITH ME SYSTEM: In this system we have the ability to choose from two or more plays at the line of scrimmage. The QUARTERBACK will call two plays in the huddle; say "Check-withme";' and choose the best play at the line of scrimmage. The color will indicate the direction and the numbers will indicate the play. The starting count could be one or two. A. LIVE COLORS USED ARE: -/'1. RED- Indicates Run Right J2.WHITE-Indicates Run Left ",:,}. BL UE-Indicates Pass
,
4. 1STEXAMPLE: Huddle Call: RT 24/825 Check With Me L.O.S. Call: HIT-RED 24, RED 24--00 Play Run: 24 5. i'w EXAMPLE: Huddle Call: RT 24/825 C.W.M L.O.S. Call: HIT, BLUE 825, BLUE 825--00 Play Run: 825 3. ALERT SYSTEM: INTRO PARAGRAPH
This system completely changes the play at the line of scrimmage from the original huddle call. It gets us out of a bad play and puts us into a high percentage play. A. BLACK: The term "BLACK" erases the huddle call and we will go with a the new information at the line of scrimmage.

""

-".
C. OTHER ALERT SYSTEMS WE MAY USE 1. ZERO - ZERO: Terms used by the Quarterback to change the play
at the line of scrimmage before he has started his cadence. The ball will always be snapped on one. Example: Zero, Zero, Blue 80, Blue 80-GO-Ball is snapped.
2. HOLD - HOLD: Terms used by the QB to change the play at the line of scrimmage when he is in the middle of his cadence. "Hold-Hold" cancels the play called and alerts you to the fact that the next number called is the new play to be run on "ONE". Example: Hit-Red-24-"Hold-Hold"-26-26-GO-Ball snapped. is
Note: Due to the 25 second clock we will not use a directional color in the cadence when using "HOLD-HOLD".

1. Our system is made up of a series of descriptive tenns. 2. Personnel Groupings will be called first. 3. The next tenn that \"\ill be used is a direction "RIGHT" or "LEFT". This places our Z and TE, T<?THE CALL SIDE and our X, to the opposite side. Our backs will line up in the "I". 4. If "RIGHT" or "LEFT" is preceeded by another tenn this would indicate a change of position for our backs. Example: Split-Right. 5. If "RIGHT" or "LEFT" is followed by another term, this would indicate a change of position for our wideouts. Example: Right Twins. 6. "BINGO" and "HARPO" indicates an unbalanced line. BINGO indicates unbalanced to the Right. HARPO indicates unbalanced to the Left.
7. Motion and shift "calls" precede the formation call.

Two Minute Procedure 1. Procedures a. It is the as's responsibility to alert the team when we are in a Two Minute Offense 1. Alert them on the sidelines before the drive even starts 2. Alert them while on the sidelines that we willbegin a Two Minute Offense at a particular point in the drive. a. He does this by yelling "At-The-Line,At-The-Lines which alerts the offense to hustle to the L.O.S. and listen to the "Right or Leftscalls. 1. A "Right-Righr call means we are in ~ Protection 2. A "Left-LeWcall means we are in 2Q Protection 3. The eligible receivers listen for the code word for the play and also they read the as's hand signals. 3. Ifthe situation occurs where the clock willstart on the snap, the as willyell "Huddle-Huddles, and we will call the next play from the confines of our huddle and utilize the called cadence. b. Whenever we call a play without the huddle, the snap count willbe on the "First Sounds. c. We will be in "Regular- personnel. d. Every ball carrier must be aware of the down and distance because he must make some critical decisions. 1.. Am I very near the first down marker? a. Ifhe is, then he must head determinedly North and South and get the first down. b. Ifhe is not, then he must make another decision...can I get out-of-bounds. 1. In a normal situation, we willutilize the numbers painted on the field to guide you. a. Ifinside of the numbers, go North and South and do not struggle for yardage b. Ifoutside the numbers, make an attempt to get .outof bounds. [Ifyou attempt and do not make it, do not struggle for yardage] e. The quarterback must makea big decisionfollowing a longgain (20 yard rule)...does he call time-out or does he hustle everyone back to the LOS and execute a play or our clock play. f. X & Z willnot change sides during a no huddle situation. The TE will listen to the OB's "Right-Right or Left-Left"call and g. move accordingly as will the FB and the TB.
---
--
h.
We will always be aligned at the LOS when the clock is stopped, but started by the referee's signal. (Refer to Section C, 1-4). 1. When the referee gives the "Wind the Clock. signal, the ball should be snapped almost simultaneously.
E.
The Clock Play 1. "Fire-Fire. a. Is utilized when we just ran a play and we need to stop the clock immediately! b. The QS will yell "Fire-Fire.. Everyone must get set immediately. 1. We are nqt concerned about the splits of the wide receivers, " but only concerned about being stationary for 1 count so that the QS can get the ball snapped in order to kill the clock or to throw the Quick Out to one of the wide receivers. 2. The Y will stay in and block and the rest of the Team will execute 800 Protection. c. On our Clock Play, the OS has the option of "Killing the Sail. or throwing a Ouick Out primarily to X because he is so close to the sidelines. It just depends on the situation of why he is calling the Clock Play. 1. Obviously, the quarterbacks never Kill the Clock on 41h down or on 3rddown in a 41h down drive unless you are way down on the clock. ' Coaching Points 1. The OS must always know the goal of the Two Minute Drill before the half can be very different than at the end of the game. With new NCAA rules regarding ties, it will possibly effect what we are trying to accomplish at the end of the game. 2. We basically do not want to go in at half time with any time-outs left unless we have planned in advance to not give our opponent's an opportunity. 3. You must always know that the down and what the distance is as well as the yard line for a high percentage for our field goal kicker. 4. Quarterback...no heroics! Do not try the impossible. 5. Sail carriers...do not struggle for inches. It consumes time. Creates big piles which take a lot of time to get the ball back in play. [Some teams look for this type of ball carrier to cause fumbles]. If you are very close to a 1/10, then get the first down; unless, we are in a desperate clock situation and the first down is not a factor.
F.
- ~
"""-
-~
6.
7. 8. 9.
Everyone must unpile with a true sense of real urgency! [Be aware that the defense willmake this very difficultso keep your poise and keep cool.] Quickly get back to your position for this no huddle situation. Ball carriers...be sure to get out of bounds. Ifpossible, get yardage along the sidelines, then step out. Ifthe quarterback runs...get all the yardage they give you, then get on the ground. Ifyou gain +10 yards or more, possible Time-Out Call. QB's - calling Time-Out Mechanics - go to the referee (behind you in the offensive back field) before the play is stopped signal time out to the referee ifthe ball carrier is tackled in bounds.
G.
Procedures' Pass Protectionvital. Anticipate situation as it develops. Gather team on sideline, everyone else clear area. Discuss situation and use of clock with quarterback. Alert team to situation and be prepared for IIAt-The-Line". Be sure the correct personnel is in the game. Decide on return (fair catch) before return team takes the field. Entire team to sideline on time outs to discuss use of clock. Messengers ready run into game. Ifclock starts on snap, use huddle. If it starts on referee's signal, use "At-The-Line". Plan for TO or FG. Ifnecessary, save time out for FG. Minimumtime for FG with clock running is 15 seconds. Anticipate situation where clock starts on referee's signal.
