IEEE Hyderabad Section - At a glance

On 13 May 1884 a few electrical engineers in New York met to

form the American Institute of Electrical Engineers which later
became IEEE. By a co-incidence exactly a hundred years later,
on 13 May 1984 a few members of IEEE formed a Section of
IEEE at Hyderabad. This Section was formed by upgrading
what used to be the IEEE Hyderabad Subsection that was
formed in mid 1981 with just 25 members with the initiative of
Mr C Satish (now a Life Senior Member), Group. Capt. Siva
Swamy was the Chairman of subsection. Dr V Prasad Kodali,
who was elected as Region 10 Director in that year gave m uch
encouragement for the formation of Hyderabad section. The
Subsection and the Section had a unique set of volunteers of
merit and dedication especially in the 1980s. The section grew
slowly due to the hard work of Gp. Capt Siva Swami, Prof B L
Deekshatulu, C. Satish, B.S. Nagaraja et al. Prof. B L.
Deekshatulu was the first Chairman of the Section in 1984
who is now Life Fellow of IEEE.

delivered keynote talk. Dr. Jahagirdar presented explained about the
design techniques for mono-pulse antenna arrays. During symposium,
research work by PhD Scholars and MTech students from various
prestigious colleges across the country was presented in 4 sessions. The
presentation by these students were evaluated by eminent panel of experts.

400+ registrations were recorded. In the second round, a tie-
breaker decided the winners, with three contestants emerging

computer, and electronic engineering, as well as fundamental

Host Organization: Electronics Engineering (SENSE) at VIT-AP University,
VITAP technical sponsored by IEEE Guntur Subsection, MathWorks
and IEEE VIT-AP Student Branch for the faculty members,
Flyer/Banner: research scholars and industrialist. The main objective of the
workshop is to provide a “Hands-on Experience” to the
participants about various latest machine learning and deep
learning techniques and to promote the cross-fertilization
between the machine learning research and its application to
signal (EEG, ECG, Speech, Image, Audio) processing. The

Charminar
Historical significance Charminar was built by Sultan Mohammed Quli Qutb Shah in 1591. It
is known for its square shaped structure with four pillars and intricate

 carvings. It is believed that it was built in honour of his wife, Bhagmati
and the location of Charminar is the place where he had seen his then
future wife Bhagmati for the first time. It is also said that it was built in
the memory of Prophet Muhammed’s son in law who lost his life at
the battle of Karbala as its design is in the shape of Shiya Tazias.
Architecture style An Iranian architect Mir Momin Astrawadi, who had settled in
Hyderabad, designed Charminar. It is a square shaped monument with
four pillars, one on each side. The architectural design of Charminar is
inspired from the Shia “tazias”. These Tazias were built in the memory
of Hussain, who was the son in law of Prophet Muhhamed and had
lost his life in the battle of Karbala.
The four pillars around Charminar represent the four caliphs. These
pillars or minars are 48.7 meters high. These are four stories, with
each floor divided by intricately carved rings that surround it. On the
top floor of Chaminar there is a mosque which is believed to be the
oldest mosque of Hyderabad city.
In the middle of the Charminar courtyard, you will find a small vazu
with a small fountain, which has been built to provide water for the
ablution before offering prayers.
Approximate cost of The construction began in 1589 and was completed in two years with
construction a cost of Rs. 9 lakhs, which was around 2 lakhs huns/gold coins in
those times. It is said to weigh around 14000 tonnes with a minimum
of 30 feet deep foundation. In 1670, a minaret had fallen down after
being struck by lightning. It was then repaired at a cost of around
Rs.58000 then. In 1820, some part of it was renovated by Sikandar Jah
at a cost of Rs. 2 lakhs.
What to do? 1. Places to visit: Charminar, Chowmahalla Palace, Mecca Masjid.
The Laad Bazaar, located near the monument, is a popular shopping
destination known for its traditional bangles, pearls, and colourful
textiles.

 Golconda Fort
Historical significance Golconda Fort, Hyderabad, is historically one of the most significant
monuments in the country. But who built the Golconda Fort? The fort
was built by the Kakatiyas. It is also a fortress and citadel of the Qutb
Shahi dynasty, located on top of a hill 120 meters in height.
The majestic palace was once home to the mighty Qutub Shahis and
Nizams. They ruled over Deccan for more than 400 years. Kakatiya
monarchs built the fort in the 13th century AD. Qutub Shahi kings
later rebuilt it around 1525. One must learn more about Golconda
Fort and explore the nooks and corners of the mighty fort that stands
strong even today.
Architecture style Golconda Fort, Hyderabad, is a historical monument and tourist
attraction in India. The fort served as their capital until they were
defeated by Tipu Sultan in 1781 CE. It has been declared a World
Heritage Site by UNESCO since 1997 because of its architectural
significance.
The fort was built on an island between two rivers called Musi and
Manjira. Later on, it was expanded to cover more land around it and
became one of the most important sites in the Golconda region during

 that time, leading to its name "Golconda'' or "Mountain Fortress''
because of its location at a high altitude above sea level.

‭Dhawan‬ ‭Space‬ ‭Centre.‬ ‭After‬ ‭a‬ ‭space‬ ‭voyage,‬ ‭the‬ ‭spacecraft‬ ‭achieved‬ ‭lunar‬ ‭orbit‬‭on‬‭August‬‭5.‬‭The‬
‭remarkable‬‭part‬‭of‬‭this‬‭mission‬‭was‬‭the‬‭successful‬‭landing‬‭of‬‭the‬‭lander,‬‭which‬‭occurred‬‭near‬‭the‬‭lunar‬
‭south‬‭pole‬‭at‬‭18:03‬‭IST‬‭(12:33‬‭UTC)‬‭on‬‭August‬‭23.‬‭This‬‭achievement‬‭marked‬‭a‬‭significant‬‭milestone,‬
‭as‬‭India‬‭became‬‭the‬‭fourth‬‭nation‬‭globally‬‭to‬‭accomplish‬‭a‬‭successful‬‭lunar‬‭landing‬‭and‬‭the‬‭very‬‭first‬
‭to achieve this feat in the vicinity of the lunar south pole.‬

‭The overall objectives of the Chandrayaan-3 mission can be further emphasised as follows:‬

‭2.‬ ‭Rover‬‭Exploration‬‭on‬‭the‬‭Moon:‬‭Another‬‭crucial‬‭goal‬‭is‬‭to‬‭showcase‬‭the‬‭Rover's‬‭mobility‬‭on‬
‭the‬‭lunar‬‭surface,‬‭enabling‬‭it‬‭to‬‭explore‬‭and‬‭conduct‬‭scientific‬‭investigations‬‭across‬‭the‬‭lunar‬
‭terrain.‬
‭3.‬ ‭In-Situ‬ ‭Scientific‬ ‭Experiments:‬ ‭Chandrayaan-3‬ ‭is‬ ‭a‬‭lunar‬‭research‬‭project‬‭aiming‬‭to‬‭conduct‬
‭in-situ‬ ‭scientific‬ ‭experiments‬ ‭on‬ ‭the‬ ‭moon's‬ ‭surface,‬ ‭providing‬ ‭valuable‬ ‭insights‬ ‭into‬ ‭lunar‬
