III-1 Functionning mode of operational amplifier

I- INTRODUCTION An operational amplifier can work either in saturation mode or linear mode. Figure 2
This part of our study also concerns analog electronic devices. This time we focus presents its characteristic.
on operational amplifier which have a particularity to solve many operations in analog and
digital forms.
II- DEFINTION AND CONSTITUTION
II-1 Definition
An operational amplifier is a high gain electronic voltage amplifier with two inputs and
one output. Operational amplifier (op-amp) were used to primarily perform mathematical
operations.
When +Vin is between –Vi and +Vi, operational amplifier works in linear mode.
II-2 Constitution When we reach –Vcc or +Vcc, operational amplifier works in saturation mode.
An operational amplifier consist of two inputs terminal, the inverting input (-) and the non
inverting input (+) and one output terminal. Figure 1 below show the symbol of aperational III-2 Op-Amp as a Comparator
amplifier.  A comparator is a type of op-amp that compares two input voltage and produces
an output in either of two states indicating the greater than or less than relationship of the
input.
 When the inverting voltage is larger than the noninverting voltage the comparator
produces a low output voltage (-Vsat). When the inverting output is less than the non-
inverting input the output is high (+Vsat).
Most operational amplifier work with two dc supply voltage (+V, -V).

III- CHARACTERISTIC OF IDEAL OPERTIONAL AMPLIFIER

Ideal op-amp has following characteristics :
- Input Resistance Ri= ∞
- Output Resistance Ro= 0
- Voltage Gain A = ∞
- Bandwidth = ∞
- Perfect balance i.e vo= 0 when v1= v2
- Characteristics do not drift with temperature 1

III-3 Non inverting Amplifier

The differential input to the op-amp (Vin-Vf) will be amplified by the open loop gain and
produces an output voltage.

III-4 Voltage Follower

The lowest gain that can be obtained from a non-inverting amplifier with feedback is 1.
When the non-inverting amplifier gives unity gain, it is called voltage follower because
the output voltage is equal to the input voltage and in phase with the input voltage. In other
words the output voltage follows the input voltage.
