Note: Attempt all questions in given sequence. Assume missing data, if any, suitably. Symbols
have their usual meaning.

Q1 (a) Establish the differential equation for the charge oscillations in LC circuit. And hence (2+2)
find the expression of frequency, charge and energy at any instant.
(b) The logarithmic decrement of a pendulum is 0.3. Calculate the percentage change in (2)
successive amplitude.

Q2 (a) Discuss any two methods for the experimental determination of absorption coefficient (1.5+1.5)
of a material by reverberation chamber method.

(b) A rectangular hall measures 10 ft x 20 ft x 30 ft and has average absorption coefficient (1+1+1)
0.4. Calculate the reverberation time using Sabine's formula and Eyring's formula.
Comment on the result.

Q3 (a) What is piezoelectric effect? How can it be used to generate ultrasonic waves? Discuss (1+1+1)
with the help of suitable diagram and circuits.

(b) Tank circuit of magnetostriction generator is having capacitance of 1,uF and

inductance 10mH. If the velocity of ultrasonic in this medium is 2000m/s and
ultrasonic vibration is taking place along the length of material, calculate the length of
this mgnetostriction material.

Q4 (a) Write Maxwell's equation for free space. Prove that electromagnetic waves travel with
(2+2)
the speed of light in free space.
(b) Calculate the curl and divergence of the following vector.
