In 1956, the term Artificial Intelligence (AI) was defined by John McCarthy. He defined AI as:
‘The science and engineering of making intelligent machines.’

WHO IS JOHN MCCARTHY

John McCarthy (1927-2011) was an American computer scientist.

He invented LISP to be able to do logic programming, in 1958. This


makes LISP the second-oldest high-level programming language
that is still in use .
