Linear Programming Problems (1) (Repaired)

The document discusses several mathematical optimization problems involving transportation, blending, advertising media selection, and diet formulation. It provides tables of data on production quantities and costs, material properties, advertising costs and reach, and food nutrient contents and costs. Mathematical models are formulated to maximize profit or minimize costs given various constraints.

It is required to determine The daily number of unit to be manufacture of the each product.
The profit per unit is for product 1,2 and 3 is Rs 4 , 3 , 6 Respectively. It is assumed that all
the amount produced are consumed in the market formulate the mathematical (LP)
Model that will maximize the profit .

Diet Problem

● A person wants to decide the constituents of a diet which will fulfil his daily requirements of
proteins , fats and carbohydrates at the minimum cost .The choice is to be made from
four different type of foods, the yields per unit of these foods are given the table .

Blending Problem:-

A firm producesan alloy having the following specification:-

I. Specific Gravity ≤ 0.98

II. Chromium ≥ 8%
III. Melting point ≥ 450℃

⮚ Costs of the various raw materials per ton are Rs90 for A, Rs 280 b and Rs 40 for C ,
formulate the L.p model to find the proportions in which A,B AND C be used to
obtain an alloy of desired properties while the cost of raw materials is minimum.

Specific Gravity 0.92 0.97 1.04 ≤ 0.98

Chromium 7% 13% 10% ≥ 8%

ADVERTISING MEDIA SELECTION PROBLEM:-

An advertising media selection company wishes to plan its advertising strategy in three
different media-television radio and magazines. The purpose of advertising to reach as large
a number of potential customers as possible following data have been obtained from
market survey.

television radio Magazine 1 Magazine 2

Cost of an advertising Rs 30000 Rs 20000 15000 10000
unit
Cost of potiential 200000 600000 15000 100000
costumer reached
No. of female costumer 150000 400000 70000 50000
reached

The company wants to spend not more than 450000 on advertising following are the further
requirement :-
I. At least 1 million exposure takes place among female customers.
II. Advertising on magazines be limited to Rs. 1,50000
III. At least 3 ads unit be bought on magazine 1 and 2 units on magazine 2.
IV. The number of ads unit on television and radio should be between 5 and 10.

SIMPLEX METHOD :-
1. Maximize z=3x1 + 4x2
Subect to :-

X1 + X2 <= 450

2x1 + X2 <=600
Where x1,x2,>=0
2. Maximize = Z = 2X1 + 5X2
Subject to 3X1 + X2 <= 21
X1 + X2 <= 9
X1 , X2 >= 0

3. minimize = Z = 2X1 + 5X2

Subject to 6X1 + 8X2 >= 100
7X1 + 12X2 <= 120
X1 , X2 >= 0
