Very good! Then, what do you think is our
lesson for today?

That’s right!
Our lesson for today is all about the simple
tenses of a verb: the past, present, and future
tenses. The past, present, and future tense,
teacher.
D. Discussing New Concepts and
Practicing new skills # 1

Verb tenses depend on WHEN the action Teacher, when we say past tense it
takes place. already happened.

Ex. Time machine.

What are the three simple tenses of verb?

Very good!

What is your idea about past tense? I walked my dog

I jumped so high
Very good!

Past tense means it already happened and Teacher, those are verbs in past tense
when we want to write a verb in a past tense because they ends with -ed.
we add -d or -ed.

Based on the song, what are the past tense

there?

How do you say that those are verbs in past

tense?

That’s right!
But class remember, not all verbs follow that
rule. The students raises their hands.

For example, Alexander slept for 9 hours. Teacher dribbled the ball.
For the verb sleep we don’t add -ed but we
changed it into slept.
Another example, the girl ate her dinner. Dribbled, teacher.
We don’t say eated , instead we say ate.

For your better understanding, I have a ball

here.
Look at me, and tell me what I did.

Who can tell me what I did?

Downloaded by Jovelyn Noriel ([email protected])

Very good!
What is the past tense there?

That’s right! “Dribbled” because it already My grandmother cooked food for my

Class, I have a big book here and describe

what the picture shows.
I walked at the beach yesterday.
What does the picture shows?

Walked, teacher.

Yes, teacher.
That’s right!

Who can give me a sentence that uses past

tense verb? Anyone?

Teacher, present tense means it is

Good job! happening now.
What is the past tense used in the sentence ,
class?

That’s right!

Do you understand the past tense ,class?

Alright!

Let’s proceed to the second tense of verb,

the present tense.

Do you have any idea about present tense?

Very good!
He/ She dribbles the ball.
Present tense means happening now.
Depending on the subject in the sentence,
we add either -s or -es, or we just keep the
verb as is. Dribbles, teacher.

We use the base form if the subject is plural. Present tense, teacher.
For example, we dance together.
Because it is happening now, teacher.
We use s form if the subject is singular.
For example, my sister cooks dinner.

( The teacher passes the ball to a student Teacher writes on the board.
and asks him/her to dribble the ball.)
Writes, teacher.
Class, what do you think he is doing?

grandparents.
Very good!

( The teacher writes on the board) Cooks, teacher.

What do you think I am doing, class?
Antonia visits her grandmother
Excellent! regularly.
What is the present tense verb there?

Class, what is the second picture shows? Visits, teacher.

The answers of the students vary.

Very good! Teacher, future tense means will

happen.
What is the present tense verb there?

Will you give me an example of a sentence

using present tense verb?

Good job! What is the present tense verb

that is being used?

Correct! Any other examples?

He/ She will dribble the ball.
Good job, children!

The last verb tense is the future tense.

Do you have any idea about future tense? Because it indicates action that will
happen later.

That’s right!
Future tense indicates action that will still
happen.

In writing a future tense verb, we add the I will cook food for my father
word “will” before the verb. tomorrow.

For example,
It will rain tomorrow.

What if I pass the ball to your classmate and Ana will come to my house this
she will dribble it later, how will you afternoon.
