2.0 Rationale
After the completion of the project we completely understood the concept of Cisco
packet Tracer. We’ve understood the concept of it and how to use it in solving real
world problems.

Aim / Benefits of the Micro-Project

Aim: Email Server Using CISCO Packet Tracer.

Benefits:
We implemented networking using Cisco packet Tracer.

We learnt how to Cisco packet Tracer and get desired output to the user.
Our concept of ACN was made clear through this project

5
3.0 Course Outcomes Achieved
Build Email Server Using CISCO Packet Tracer.

Addressing Table

Device Interface IP Subnet Default

Address Mask Gateway

Server Ethernet 192.168.2.2 255.255.255.0 192.168.2.1

Router 0 FastEthernet0/0 192.168.1.1 255.255.255.0 -

PC 2 Ethernet 192.168.1.4 255.255.255.0 192.168.1.1

6
Part 1: Build Email Server Using CISCO Packet Tracer.

Part 2: Configure IP addresses on the PCs, DNS Server and the

Router.

7
Router IP address: 192.168.1.1

Router IP address: 192.168.2.1

8
PC0 IP address: 192.168.1.2

PC1 IP address: 192.168.1.3

9
PC2 IP address: 192.168.1.4

3. Now configure mail clients on the PCs and mail service on the generic server.

Mail Clients:

Click on PC0. Go to its Desktop tab, and click on Email. Configure the email client
by filling in the user, server and login information. Be sure to Save.

Configure mail client on PC1 in a similar way we did for PC1.

Configure mail client on PC1 in a similar way we did for PC2.

Next, we’ll configure the email server.

To do this, click on the server, then click Services tab, pick email server from the
menu.

10
Provide the Domain name of the server then click on Set to set it. In this example
I’ve used the name ‘mail.com’ .

Proceed and add users and provide their passwords. I have three email
clients(users) with usernames.

After entering a username and password, click on Add(+) to add the user to the
server. You can optionally remove a user by clicking on Remove (-). You can change
a user’s password by clicking on change password.

Now, notice that we set a domain name for the email server. For that reason, we
should have a DNS server that will resolve this domain name (plus other domain
names if there were) to an IP address.

11
Lastly test the email service. Go to PC0 email client, compose an email and send its
to PC1 email address

12
13
Try to see whether the email from PC0 is received on PC1. On the email client of PC1, click
on Receive.

14
8.0 Skill Developed / Learning Outcome of this Micro- Project
We learnt to implement networking using Cisco packet Tracer.

9.0 Applications of this Micro-Project

By the help of this micro project we can implement many CPT in
ACN
