Topic: Resilience in the Face of Automation: Transforming Challenges into

Opportunities for Innovation and Growth

I. Introduction

A. The growing integration of AI in various sectors

According to the World Economic Forum, 85 million jobs will be replaced by AI by 2025.
Goldman Sachs (a leading global investment banking) said 300 million jobs are going to be
replaced. No more predictions, the wave of layoffs is happening right now. Paytm (an Indian
multinational financial technology company) has laid off over 1000 employees from its
operations, sales and engineering team after the firm implemented a slew of AI technology to
improve efficiency. Google is planning a significant restructuring that might lead to layoffs of
around 30,000 employees within its ad sales division due to the integration of AI technology.
The intention is to utilize AI to enhance operational efficiency, especially in customer care
services and ad sales.

AI is integrating into various sectors, making processes smarter, faster, and more efficient.
Whether it's chatbots in customer service, algorithms predicting consumer behavior, or robots
in manufacturing, AI's footprint is expanding. But with great power comes great responsibility—
and great debate.

B. The debate surrounding AI's impact on employment

Does AI spell the doom of widespread employment as we know it, or is it a gateway to new
types of jobs and opportunities? We're here to dissect this, looking at how AI replaces human
tasks, which jobs are at risk, and the potential scale and pace of job displacement.
C. Overview of the main points to be discussed

Today, we're looking at how AI leads to job displacement and automation, the evolution of skills
in the workforce, the innovation and opportunities AI brings, and finally, how we can all adapt
to this new era. Let's embark on this journey of discovery.

II. Job Displacement and Automation Trends

A. Explanation of how AI technologies can replace human tasks

AI can:
- Automate the process of entering and analyzing data, saving time and reducing errors.
- Analyze financial data and market trends, providing insights and recommendations for
investment decisions.
- Identify defects and anomalies in manufactured products, ensuring quality standards
are met without human intervention.
- Be powered chatbots that can handle customer inquiries and support requests,
providing immediate assistance and reducing the workload on human agents.
- Translate text or speech between different languages accurately and efficiently,
facilitating communication across language barriers.

And AI is still being updated…

B. Examples of industries and roles susceptible to automation

Manufacturing, transport, customer service—these are just a few sectors where jobs are
changing due to automation. Robots on assembly lines or AI chatbots serving customers are
becoming more common, showcasing the shift in how work is done.
- Manufacturing: Robots, often powered by AI, can perform physical tasks such as
manufacturing, packing, and even surgery with precision.
- Transport: AI can also create entirely new ways of doing things that don't require as
much human intervention. For example, autonomous vehicles could reduce the need for
drivers in transport roles.
- Customer service: AI-powered chatbots and virtual assistants can handle customer
service inquiries, bookings, and troubleshooting, reducing the need for human customer
service representatives.

C. Discussion on the scale and pace of potential job displacement

This transformation isn't happening overnight, but it's moving fast. The pace varies by industry
and region, influenced by technology, economic factors, and policy decisions. Understanding
this helps us prepare for the future.
III. Skill Evolution and Workforce Adaptation
A. Skills Needed to Work With AI

1. Intellectual Curiosity
 What it means: Being intellectually curious means you're eager to dig deeper and learn
new things beyond the surface level.
 Why it's important with AI: When you're using AI tools at work, having this curiosity
helps you really understand the information they provide. It encourages you to ask the
right questions to figure out if that information can actually help you reach your goals.

2. Holistic Understanding
 What it means: Holistic understanding is about seeing how different parts of a system
relate to each other.
 Why it helps in business: In a company, understanding how all the different departments
work together can help everyone work towards the same goals more effectively.

3. Ability to Write Good Prompts

 Why it's crucial: When you're using AI tools that generate responses based on prompts,
knowing how to write clear and specific prompts can make a huge difference in the
quality of the information you get.

B. Skills AI Can't Replace

1. Critical Thinking
 Why it's in demand: Many job listings ask for critical thinking skills because they're
essential for problem-solving and decision-making in any role.

2. Emotional Intelligence
 What it involves: Emotional intelligence is about understanding and managing your own
emotions, as well as those of others.
 Why it's important in teams: Working with others means dealing with different
personalities and emotions. AI can't understand or manage emotions, so this skill is vital
for effective teamwork.

3. Creativity
 Why it's unique to humans: Creativity is what drives innovation and leads to new
inventions. While AI can help with tasks, it can't replicate the spontaneous and
imaginative thinking that humans bring to the table.
IV. Opportunities for Innovation and Job Creation

AI generated an era in which machines could be trained to replace humans in certain activities.
Currently, people are concerned about whether AI can replace humans and eliminate job
opportunities. While it's true that AI is replacing humans doing simple, repetitive tasks that
shorten workflows, it's also making improvements in some areas to create new job positions.
Give examples in 2 fields: Healthcare and Education.
 Healthcare: AI is used to diagnose patients, analyze the current health date to predict
potential health. Thanks to AI, the formation of Virtual nursing assistants can be used to
help answer questions about medications, forward reports to doctors and take care the
elderly

 Education: AI plays a role as an assistant for students, teachers and parents. Classroom
have a robot to analyze student’s health. Students wear uniform with chip that tracks
their location.

Because of the high application of AI in many fields, this also promotes a number of new jobs to
adapt the development of technology such as:
 AI engineer: are responsible for developing, programming and training the complex
networks of algorithms that make up AI so that they can function like a human brain
 Data engineer: refers to the building of systems to enable the collection and usage of
data
 Data scientist: uses data to understand and explain the phenomena around them, and
help organizations make better decisions
V. Conclusion
In recent years, AI has exploded, creating many improvements in human life. However, the
development of AI is like a double-edged sword. Humans leverage AI in many fields but they
also fear its importance may affect their work at the same time. In the future, AI will definitely
develop further. Humans must adapt to this as well as apply some ethical rules when using AI to
ensure rights.
