Road/Rail Weighbridge Software 1.1. Preface

1. Road/Rail Weighbridge Software

1.1. Preface
The DISOWARE S Weighing & Data Processing program is
designed as powerful system with comprehensive data acquisition
and processing functions for input and output weighings on
road/rail weighbridges.

The heart of the system is an SQL database server ensuring

maximal data safety and consistency both in sngle-user
workstations and networks of the client-server architecture.

Its backup and archiving functions offer you an efficient service

tool you can use to optimally meet your demands on data safety
and long-term storage.

Generated independent of the master data in the delivery note file,

all data entered and acquired in weighing mode can be used for
comprehensive and flexible data evaluations.

To do so, you can use the optional database management tool

QUEST to comprise any requests to the database simply and
graphically, with no need for special SQL knowledge. All results
and printer outputs can be designed at will, either by the
SCHENCK service or single-handedly by the customer, to be then
transferred to a table calculation or presentation program, e.g.
Microsoft Excel, for further processing and presentation.

The MS WINDOWS graphical operator environment enables

convenient operation via mouse and/or keyboard.

The DISOWARE S basic version is divided into various modules

and functions permitting you to handle your tasks with a high
degree of efficiency:

Data Management 1.1. Preface

2. Data Management
As database, DISOWARE S uses an SQLBase database server
ensuring maximum data safety and consistency, both in
single-user workstations and in networks of the client-server
architecture.

The DISOWARE S database model, i.e. the detailed database

structure with tables, available fields and table interrelations is
shown in graphical form in the DISOWARE S standard database
documentation.

The tables in DISOWARE S are divided into 3 groups:

– Master data
– Actual data
– Others (configuration data)

All data entered and acquired in weighing mode are stored in the
delivery note table independent of master data and can be used
for comprehensive and flexible evaluation.

Data update for all DISOWARE S tables is identical:

– Every database table can be edited in table or form represen-

tation.

– You can select which fields of a database table are to appear

on screen.

– You are free to determine size and position of the fields dis-
played in table form.

– The privilege management service function lets you set targe-

ted access rights for every user or group of users.

– Upon representation of data in table form, you can search data

using the QBE method (Query by Example) and enter match
codes or comparison data for every field.

– Alternatively, you can use the Customer Registration function

to update customer data (see Item 2.3).

Data Management 2.3. Customer Registration

2.3. Customer Registration

The Customer Registration function can be used for update of
customer data, alternatively to the conventional data input into
single database tables.

Upon Customer Registration, the data (for all tables involved) are
entered in the following screen:

This function lets you enter the customer data of the various tables
in one single registration screen, and automatically stores data in
relevant tables with no need for you to know the table
interrelations.

2.3. Customer Registration Scale Control

3. Scale Control
Various scales can be connected to the system.

The system supports the following weighing electronics:

DISOMAT F
DISOMAT B, Bplus (standard software or ZEUS weighing
sequence)
DISOMAT S (standard software)
DISOMAT D
TOLEDO ATSM 2302

For every connected scale, a scale display has been defined you
can call up using the menu bar.

You can start the following scale functions:

Acquire tare, clear tare memory, zero scale, display tare, display
gross, change over scale (twin-unit), acknowledge error.

You can use the DISOWARE S weighing mode module with no

need to manipulate scale display. Weighing program suggests the
scale to be used for next weighing operation and starts it
automatically.

The DISOWARE scale display itself is non-legal-for-trade.

When using the program in legal-for-trade applications, the scale
operator must be able to see the legal-for-trade control unit of the
respective scale.

Using the DISOSAVE option, weigh data can be stored in a

legal-for-trade memory. The statutary printout can thus be omitted.

manual with all types of weighing.

If a first weighing operation is complete, weigh data can be

printed. After single, fixed tare or second weighing, program
creates a delivery note form; in the case of external weighing, an
external weighing form.

For all types of printout, DISOWARE S readies a form predefined

by SCHENCK you can change single-handedly or have changed
by the SCHENCK Service.

4.2. Handling Using ID Number

In the ID Number tables, the data of frequent operations can be
comprised at will. All you have to do is select the ID number to fill
the weigh screen with complete weigh data.

Weighing Mode Module 4.6. Cash Payments / Cashbox

4.4. Automatic Weighing Using ID Card Reader

If a card reader is installed, weighing can be started automatically
by insertion of an ID card. The number stored on card is
interpreted as ID number and enables the program to
automatically load the strings for weighing provided that you have
created a data record for the respective ID number.

4.5. Repeat Weighing

The Repeat Weighing lets you weigh a vehicle using the data of
an operation performed during the past 7 days.
Enter delivery note or vehicle number, and program automatically
loads all strings of the operation to be repeated into weigh screen.

4.6. Cash Payments / Cashbox

For customers configured in master data as cash payers, the
amount to be paid is invoiced directly upon weighing.

In the Cash Payment screen, the invoice amount is assigned to

one of the cashboxes you have configured (see Cashbox
Management item).

4.10. Using Text Blocks Weighing Mode Module

4.7. Acquiring Temporary Data

DISOWARE S offers the possibility to temporarily store data in
weigh screen.

Temporary data input is useful whenever a customer is not stored

in master data, and being no regular client, needs not be stored
there.

For these cases, receiver, carrier and various strings can be

entered in manual without previous input in master data.

4.8. Cancelling Delivery Note

Delivery notes can be cancelled.

Upon cancellation of a delivery note, program creates a new

record with a new delivery note number, however, with negative
values of the prices of the original data record. Thus, these values
mutually cancel one another in various evaluations and invoices.

4.9. Changing Delivery Note

Subsequent modification of delivery notes is possible. However,
modification is limited to certain data.

Upon modification of a delivery note, program cancels the original

delivery note and creates a new Delivery Note Modify record with
a new delivery note number.

4.10. Using Text Blocks

These texts can be entered and saved in form of text blocks.
You can select text blocks in the weigh screen Remarks field.

Evaluations Module 4.10. Using Text Blocks

5. Evaluations Module
All weighing operations performed and completed are stored in
Delivery Note or External Weighing file complete with actual data,
i.e. all data entered and acquired.

Normally, evaluations are preformed by the customer himself

using the optional Help program, or through the SCHENCK
Service on the basis of the actual data. The recording possibilities
cover single weighing operations with optional grouping and
totalization as well as statistical evaluation including graphical
representation.

The SCHENCK Service is prepared to incorporate self-defined

evaluations into the DISOWARE S operator environment as
option.

The DISOWARE S standard version readies the following

predefined statistics and evaluations:

– Product totals over a certain period of time

– Product totals sorted by carrier, receiver or customer over a
certain period of time.

There are three different types of invoice:

– Single invoice
A separate invoice is prepared for every single delivery note.
– Cumulative invoice
All weighing operations relating to a certain invoice receiver
and grouped by cash accounts, are comprised to form a single
invoice.
– Group invoice
An cumulative invoice is prepared for every group of receivers.

For every invoice receiver, the type of invoice to be used can be

set in master data. Upon every weighing operation, type of invoice
and desired currency are stored together with the data of the
relevant weigh slip, so that all transactions performed in
conjunction with a certain invoice receiver can be comprised using
the same type of invoice.

For every type of invoice, DISOWARE S readies a predefined form

which can be matched to individual requirements by the customer
himself or by the SCHENCK Service.

12.2. Data Export/Import For Balancing Data of Other Functions

12. Other Functions

12.1. Cashbox Management

The system manages an optional number of cashboxes in one of
the two eligible currencies.

For cashbox management, the following functions are available:

– Create Cashbox
(Initialize cashbox with basic amount)

– Automatic Deposit
(Payments in conjunction with weighing operations are collec-
ted in cashbox)

– Cashbox Report
(Print all amounts paid)

12.2. Data Export/Import For Balancing Data of

Single-User Workstations
To balance the data of databases running as isolated applications,
master data and actual data must be transferred to and from
single databases.

Example: Scale workplace not coupled with office workplace.

In this case, the scale workplace must transfer the created delivery
note data to the office workplace; the latter must send new or
changed master data to the scale workplace.

Since isolated databases do not have any on-line connection, data

must be transferred from one PC to the other using disks. You are
free to use other media (tapes, ZIP drives, modem path, etc.).

The data data transfer sequence is divided into a number of steps

to be started sequentially by the user:
– Select and export data into a file on PC hard disk
– Transfer file(s) to external medium
– Transfer file(s) from external medium to destination PC hard
disk
– Import file(s) into destination PC database.

Other Functions 12.3. Backup

DISOWARE S offers the possibility to write master data or actual

data on hard disk for data transfer, or read in from hard disk.

A dialog screen lets you determine certain criteria for data

selection:
– All master data
– Only changes to master data
– Only changes to master data in a period from/to
– Selection of actual data type
– Actual data within a period from/to

When balancing data of isolated databases, you determine the

strategy single-handedly:
– Dates and periods for transfer of master or actual data
– Actual data to be transferred
– Medium to be used for data transfer.

12.3. Backup
As database, DISOWARE S uses the CENTURA SQLBase
database server ensuring maximal data safety and consistency
both in single-user workstations and networks of the client-server
architecture.

If a database is damaged, e.g. due to power failure, SQLBase is

normally able to restore a consistent state, however, not if the data
carrier (hard disk) is damaged.
In this case, the database can be restored only using the backup
copy.

The system user is responsible for the regular creation of a

database backup.

DISOWARE S offers this service in form of the Backup function.

This function lets you create a backup file of the current database.
Transfer backup file safely to an external medium and store it
there (e.g. on disk, tape, CD-ROM).

12.4. Archiving Other Functions

12.4. Archiving
Every complete weighing operation is stored in the delivery note,
or external weighing, file complete with all data entered and
acquired. The size of the delivery note file grows with the number
of weighing operations performed. As the delivery note file serves
as basis for the varying evaluations and statistics, a file with a high
number of data records may diminish the performance of your
system. Therefore, we recommend to remove the actual data not
required for current evaluations from database.

The DISOWARE S Archiving service function is designed to assist

you in exporting data from the genuine database and in
reimporting data records at a later time. The data records exported
using the Archiving function are stored in a separate archive
database on the PC hard disk.

It is incumbent on the user to safely transfer the archiving data to

an external medium and safeguard these media.
This is specially important with a view to the obligation to
safeguard certain documents over a defined period of time.
