How To Create A Windows 11 Bootable USB Device
1. Prerequisites:
a. RUFUS application – which can be downloaded from this link
b. Windows 11 ISO file - which can be downloaded from this link
iv. Under Download - Windows 11 English International section (in this case, English
International was the chosen language), click on the 64-bit Download button
ii. On Boot selection, click the dropdown and select the Disk or ISO image (Please select)
option and click SELECT to choose the Windows 11 ISO image file downloaded (2.b.ii)
iii. On Image option, click dropdown and select Standard Windows Installation
iv. On Partition scheme, click the dropdown button and select one of the two:
1. MBR – for legacy and older operating systems that don’t support GPT
2. GPT – for newer operating systems with UEFI firmware (better compatibility and
support for modern features)
ii. On File system, click the dropdown button and select NTFS (preferably – as it works with
all versions of Windows and still enables you to store files larger than 4GB in the USB
stick)
iii. On Cluster size, click the dropdown button and select the suggested default option,
based on the settings set on previous options/sections (in this case, 4096 bytes)
e. Under Status section, click on the START button to initiate the formatting process (note that this
will erase all data on the USB stick)
