Last February 18, we were assigned to be the first set to conduct the demo
teaching in Edukasyong Pantahanan at Pangkabuhayan Quarter 1. I was
assigned to discuss the topic "Ligtas at Responsableng Paggamit ng Computer,
Internet, and E-mail" in EPP 4. It was the first demo teaching that I have done
alone, face-to-face, because usually we do demo teaching in groups. I am so
worried at first about how I am going to make it and make my student (BEED3A)
be participative in my discussion.I am really afraid of talking in front of many
people, and I did not expect to hear from my professor that I explained my topic
well, and he also commented that I do have a clear voice, which is necessary as
a teacher. The most exciting part of my demo teaching is giving them an activity
in which they are in groups and they need to help each other answer the given
scenario or question. I noticed that it is very important to provide an activity that
they can enjoy and learn from at the same time, especially in the elementary
grades. Another thing that I learned from this demo lesson is how important it is for
a teacher to manage or control their students. As we are having our activity, I
noticed that the students are so excited and make noises, so as a teacher, I need
to keep everything under control to ensure an effective teaching and learning
process during the discussion. And the last thing that I appreciate about my
demo teaching on this subject is how our professor uses the feedback to inform us
and to inform me of the things that I do well and the things that I need to
improve. As an education student, feedback is very necessary in every demo we
are conducting. Teaching honestly is not the easy thing like other people think.
You should always be creative, patient, and knowledgeable to provide learnings
to all students and be prepared for all their questions that they need to know.
