PART A: DESIGN DEVELOPMENT
2. Revise & Refine: Experiment with the following modelling techniques to refine your
3D concept models.
Include screenshots and explanations of each listed point:
For this step, I applied various design elements and principles such as balance, rhythm,
emphasis, and unity to refine the 3D concept models. For example, I ensured that there
was a balance of visual weight in each space by distributing furniture and architectural
elements evenly. I also created rhythm by repeating certain design elements throughout
the space, such as consistent patterns or shapes. Additionally, I emphasized focal points
in each design to draw attention to key features or areas of importance. Finally, I
ensured that all elements worked together cohesively to create a sense of unity in the
overall design.
To refine the 3D concept models, I integrated modular systems and repeats to optimize
spatial configurations for efficiency and flexibility. For example, in the office space
design, I used modular furniture systems that could be easily rearranged to
accommodate different work patterns or team sizes. Additionally, I incorporated repeats
of certain design elements, such as lighting fixtures or decorative accents, to create
visual coherence throughout the space. Furthermore, I experimented with advanced 3D
geometry techniques to add complexity and interest to architectural elements or
furniture designs, such as using parametric modeling to create unique shapes or forms.

PART B: DESIGN PRESENTATION
2. Design Statement: Assess and evaluate the effectiveness of all design solutions in addressing the spatial challenges and meeting the project requirements.
Design Statement:
The design approach for the small apartment with a mezzanine aimed to optimize space while providing a modern and comfortable living environment for the graphic designer client. By
incorporating a spiral staircase and reconfiguring the layout, the mezzanine now seamlessly integrates an ensuite bathroom, reading area, and wardrobe space, enhancing functionality and
convenience. The use of materials such as concrete, brick, and oak wood flooring adds depth and character to the space, creating a modern yet inviting ambiance. The layout maximizes natural light
and spatial flow, ensuring a harmonious living experience that caters to the client's lifestyle and habits.
In addressing the spatial challenges of the office space, the design focused on improving functionality and integration while promoting employee well-being. By reimagining the layout with three
islands of workstations and incorporating a green area, the office now offers a dynamic and collaborative workspace. The introduction of informal meeting spaces and lighter materials enhances the
overall aesthetic and fosters a sense of openness and creativity. Through thoughtful consideration of circulation flow and furniture arrangements, the design optimizes space utilization and
encourages productivity, ultimately creating a comfortable and vibrant office environment.
For the Nike retail store, the design solution prioritized creating an inviting and immersive shopping experience that reflects the brand's identity. The enlarged curved glass facade serves as a focal
point, drawing customers into the store with its futuristic appeal. By integrating elements such as modular displays, threshold differentiation, and bold brand signage, the design effectively guides
customers through the space while showcasing Nike's latest collections. The use of vibrant colors and innovative materials reinforces the brand's image as a fitness apparel destination, enhancing
the overall ambiance and customer engagement.
3. PRESENTATION:
Today, I am going to present three design projects that address spatial challenges and specific problems and solution for it and meet the unique requirements of each brief.
Starting with Project 1, the Mezzanine - Small Apartment, our goal was to optimize space for a graphic designer client while ensuring functionality and aesthetics. By incorporating a spiral staircase
and reconfiguring the layout, we created a modern living environment with integrated amenities such as an ensuite bathroom and reading area, enhancing the overall comfort and convenience.
Moving on to Project 2, the Transitional Spaces - Office Space, our focus was on improving functionality and promoting employee well-being. Through thoughtful layout adjustments and the
introduction of green areas, we transformed the office into a dynamic and collaborative workspace. By incorporating informal meeting spaces and lighter materials, we created an environment that
fosters creativity and productivity.
Lastly, in Project 3, the Thresholds - Retail Store - Nike Brand, our aim was to design an inviting and immersive shopping experience that reflects the brand's identity. With an enlarged curved glass
facade and strategic placement of modular displays, we created a dynamic space that guides customers through the store while showcasing Nike's latest collections.
In conclusion, each design solution effectively addresses spatial challenges and meets the unique requirements of the project briefs, resulting in functional, aesthetically pleasing spaces tailored to
the needs of the users. Thank you for your attention, and I'm happy to answer any questions you may have.
