Activity 3
Managing the Classroom

Teachers have the presence and authority in conventional classes to modify the
environment to be as favorable to learning as feasible. In a single action, closing the
classroom door to eliminate outside noise eliminates the disturbance of all kinds.

My Aims/ Purposes

At the end of the activity, I should be able to:

a. prepare all requisites for my first teaching;

b. demonstrate a very satisfactory teaching performance, and
c. develop positive views and conviction in every teaching performance.

My Responsibilities

Embracing the world of teaching requires a daily dose of vitamin C’s for
teachers such as Courage, Confidence, Competence, Commitment, and
Compassion. Each day you must brace yourself with courage and confidence to
face the public (students/learners, colleagues, administrators, and others). Along
with your initial vitamin C's, it is expected that you know how to exude competence
and execute commitment and compassion in every endeavor you take. This means
embracing a holistic, dynamic, unique YOU in the world of different strokes,
different folks.

As a teacher intern, I should:

a. write lesson plans and prepare instructional materials.

b. attend classes on time.
c. conduct/implement the prepared lesson plan.
d. assess my teaching performance.
e. be kind to everyone.

My Observations (Reflections and Insights)

1. What are your expectations for your Teaching Internship in the Post Pandemic?

Amidst the pandemic, significant transformations are occurring within the

educational system, leading me to anticipate a more intricate environment.
However, as a teaching intern entering the post-pandemic phase, I foresee
adapting to novel teaching methodologies, placing emphasis on student welfare,
and actively fostering a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

2. How did you get started? (State how you prepared yourself emotionally,
physically, mentally, and spiritually)

Emotionally: I dedicated time to introspection and meditation to foster resilience and

a positive outlook, recognizing that obstacles may arise but trusting in my capacity
to overcome them.

Physically: I made self-care a priority by maintaining a balanced lifestyle through

regular exercise, proper nutrition, and ample rest to sustain my energy levels during
teaching sessions.

Mentally: I honed my teaching abilities and knowledge by studying educational

theories, refining lesson planning techniques, and enhancing classroom
management strategies to feel assured in delivering impactful instruction.

Spiritually: I pursued inner tranquility and clarity through mindfulness practices,

prayer, or communing with nature, grounding myself in a sense of purpose and
alignment with my core values as I embarked on this meaningful journey.

3. As a would-be/pre-service teacher, how did you feel while going through your
final experiential learning course (Teaching Internship)?

As a prospective educator undergoing my culminating experiential learning

phase, or teaching internship, I encountered a spectrum of emotions, from
excitement and eagerness to nervousness and doubt. Nonetheless, I was
enthusiastic about applying the theories and methodologies acquired during my
academic pursuit. I eagerly anticipated the practical aspect of engaging with
students, crafting lesson plans, and fostering a conducive learning atmosphere.

4. What are your experiences during your first teaching? (Narrate your
unforgettable experience/s)

Throughout my initial teaching experience, I experienced a sense of

nervousness. This stemmed from my limited familiarity with the students,
particularly regarding their behaviors, which made it challenging to adapt my
teaching approach. Additionally, the presence of my cooperating teacher observing
from the rear heightened my anxiety about making mistakes and potentially
disappointing them. However, despite these concerns, I found immense satisfaction
in my inaugural teaching endeavor, recognizing it as the initial step toward realizing
my aspirations of becoming a proficient educator.

5. What were the challenges you encountered during your first teaching?

During my first-time teaching, I found it hard to connect with my students. It's

important to focus on getting to know them right from the start so we can figure out
the best way to teach them. Since it's our first-time meeting as teacher and
students, they might be a bit shy to talk at first.

6. How did you respond or get through with those challenges?

I confronted these challenges by implementing a dynamic and interactive activity.

The objective was to alleviate tension and cultivate a comfortable environment in
the classroom, fostering mutual trust between the students and us as educators
during our initial interaction.

7. Who/what was your motivation during your first teaching?

My parents have served as a major inspiration, constantly envisioning me in the

role of a teacher. Their joy in witnessing my achievements propels me forward.
Moreover, the realization that I'm approaching the culmination of my college
experience and will soon embark on my desired path as an educator further
motivates me.

8. What is your current perspective towards teaching?

My present viewpoint on teaching extends beyond considering it a mere

occupation; rather, it's a profound vocation. It surpasses the simple transmission of
knowledge; it entails profoundly influencing the lives of students. Teachers possess
the power to ignite and cultivate students' aspirations and goals. Teaching requires
unwavering dedication, steadfast commitment, and genuine altruism. It involves
directing and molding the trajectory of society through the students entrusted to our
care.
