Topic: CHEER DANCING Length of Period: 30 minutes

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, learners should be able to:
a. state the terminologies used in cheer dance.
b. modify the performance elements in cheer dancing.
c. execute different motion techniques in cheer dancing.

GREETINGS
“Good morning/afternoon, everyone.” “Good morning/afternoon, Sir It’s nice to see you
today!”

“How’s your day so far?” “It is good Sir!”

PRAYER
“Today, let’s start our discussion by having a short (The chosen student will lead the prayer.)
prayer. (Name of student), please lead the prayer.”

“Before we start, I want you to arrange your chairs properly (The students will follow.)
and pick up the pieces of paper on your surroundings.”

CHECKING OF ATTENDANCE

Okay, how about group 2? “We don't have any absentees today, Sir.”

have set in our classroom:

kindly raise your hand. (The students are listening attentively)

B. MOTIVATION
"Before we formally begin our discussion, may I ask
everyone to stand up, and we'll have a game. Please form
two groups and make sure you have enough space to move
comfortably."

“Now class, after the game we just did what do you think,
or do you have any idea about our lesson for today?”

” I think its all about cheer dance.”


“Very good! that’s exactly our topic is all about”

“Good job! Okay thank you. Let us proceed with today’s.

C. LESSON PROPER

Cheer dance is a recreational activity and a competitive


sport composed of an organized routine with required
performance elements and skills like in dance and
gymnastics.

Would you like to try cheer dancing?

At first, it really looks hard and complicated but then, we “yes sir!”
just need to learn for now about the basics.

And off the record, the advantages of cheer dancing are as


follows:
- strengthens the heart and lungs
- reduces the risk of
- heart attack
- stroke
- high blood pressure
- type 2 diabetes
How come it has lots health benefits?

Cheer dancing is an active kind of dance and at the


same time it is considered as a sport.
It definitely requires endurance and strength to do cheer
dancing.

There are elements to consider in performing cheer dance


and these are what the judges want to see during
performance.

What do you think are these elements?

Motions
Jumps and stunts
Tumbling
Cheers and chants
And to execute perfectly the motions, there are techniques Dance routine
on how to execute each motion.

To do HIGH V, straighten arms upward at a 45o angle from


head with hands in fists. Bring out thumbs and keep pinkies
facing back.

Can I see you HIGH Vs?


(Teacher checks the students’ form.) ( Students execute HIGH V and display the motion.)
Let’s do LOW V. Straighten arms downward at 45o angle
from your body with hands in fists. Bring out thumbs and
keep pinkies facing back.

Let me see your LOW V.


(Teacher checks the students’ form.) ( Students execute LOW V and display the motion.)

Now it’s LOW TOUCHDOWN. Extend arms downward


with hands in fist, maintain thumbs facing the crowd and
pinkies are facing body while fingers are facing each other.
Remember to keep the positions close to body. Straighten
arms downward in front of legs.

Okay class, let me see your LOW TOUCHDOWN.


(Teacher checks the students’ form.) ( Students execute LOW TOUCHDOWN and display the
motion.)

TORCH/PUNCH. Straighten one hand and extend it


upward while the other arm is placed on hips, keeping
hands in fist and elbow pointing on side. It can be done
with either a right or left torch.

Ready class? Show me TORCH.

( Students execute TORCH and display the motion.)


T-MOTION. From shoulder, keep arms straight and
parallel to the ground while hands are in fists with thumbs
facing out while pinkies are facing back.
( Students execute T-MOTION and display the motion.)
Show me now your T-MOTION.
(Teacher checks the students’ form.)

K-MOTION. One arm is in High V motion and the other


arm crosses body diagonally. This motion can be done
either on right or left.

K-MOTION in 3… 2… 1…
(Teacher checks the students’ form.)
( Students execute K-MOTION and display the motion.)
Let’s do the CLAP. Bend elbows and should be pulled in
and pointing downward. Keep hands just below the chin
with palms both touching each other.

Let me see your CLAP.


(Teacher checks the students’ form.) ( Students execute and CLAP display the motion.)

Lastly, let’s have the CLASP. Bend elbows and should be


pulled in and pointing downward. Keep hands below chin.
Keep arms close to body and wrap hands around each
other. Place left thumb on top of the right thumb.

Let’s have the CLASP class.

D. GENERALIZATION

Cheer dance is a team physical activity using organized


routines for the purpose of motivating a sports team,
entertaining an audience or can as well be a competition. It
requires a lot of practice as well as training to perfect
complicated stunts and dance routines.

G. EVALUATION

The class will be grouped and have to execute some of the


cheer dance arm motions and techniques discussed in the
class. They are expected to create a routine out of those
motions and will have to perform after the given period of
time to rehearse.
V. ASSIGNMENT

Write it in one whole sheet of paper..


 What are the basic hand movement and position in cheer dance?
 Learn at least five basic movement in cheer dance.
“Okay class, I hope you enjoyed and understand our lesson, Thank you and Goodbye.”

“Goodbye, Sir!. Thank you for teaching us!”
