IV. PROCEDURE
Elicits Preliminaries
• Prayer
• Greetings
• Classroom Management
• Checking of Attendance
Note to the student teacher:
• Before the lesson starts, introduce yourself as students are not
well acquainted with their student teacher.
• Check that all students are comfortable to make sure that they
can focus on the lecture and discussion.
Review
• Measure the students’ prior knowledge about the topic by asking
the following questions:
1. What are different types of electromagnetic waves?
The different electromagnetic waves are radio waves,
microwaves, infrared, light, ultraviolet, X-rays, and gamma
rays.
2. What Electromagnetic wave can be perceived by the human
eye?
The visible light

Establishing the purpose of the lesson

The objectives will be presented to the class. The class will read aloud
the objectives.
Engage The teacher will let the students answer an identification type of test.
Direction:
Look at the pictures below and identify if they are practical application of
visible light. Write VISIBLE LIGHT if it is a practical application and NOT VISIBLE
LIGHT if not.

After the activity the student teacher will instruct the students to keep their
papers away to save it for the activity later.
Explore the student teacher will group the class into four. Each group will examine the
following set of images. They will be asked to compare and contrast each set and
will present their observation.

Explain Post Activity Discussion:

Each group will be asked to discuss their answers.
Their discussion will be guided by the following questions:
1. What do the picture have in common?
2. How do the two pictures differ?
3. How do you think each set of pictures relate to visible light?

They will be rated through the rubric located at the attachment.

The rubric will be read out loud by the student teacher to the class.

Elaborate Discuss visible light and its practical application based on the following questions:

1. What is visible light?

Visible light is a range of electromagnetic radiation that can be
detected by the human eye. It mainly comes from the sun and appear
white, but it is made up of multitude of different wavelengths(colors).

2. How are these different wavelengths (colors) are seen?

The different colors of white light can be seen when white light
passes through a prism because the different wavelengths of light
are bent at different angles as they pass through the prism, they
spread out and form what we see as a rainbow. The acronym
"ROYGBIV" helps us to remember the colors. Red light has the
longest wavelength and the least energy, while violet light has the
shortest wavelength and the most energy.

3. What are the uses of visible light?

a. Vision
• Visible light is extremely important to humans, we use it TO SEE!
Without light, our eyes would not be able to see images of
anything.
• Objects appear different colors because they absorb some colors
(wavelengths) and reflected or transmit other colors. The colors
we see are the wavelengths that are reflected or transmitted.

b. Photosynthesis
the sun’s energy is converted to chemical energy by
photosynthetic organisms. However, the various wavelengths in
sunlight are not all used equally in photosynthesis. Instead,
photosynthetic organisms contain light-absorbing molecules
called pigments that absorb only specific wavelengths of visible
light, while reflecting others.

c. Photography
Visible cameras utilize wavelengths of light from 400~700nm,
which is the same spectrum that the human eye perceives.
Visible cameras are designed to create images that replicate
human vision, capturing light in red, green, and blue
wavelengths (RGB) for accurate color representation.

d. Medicine
Dermatologists widely use phototherapy. Phototherapy is used
in the treatment of acne vulgaris, seasonal affective disorders,
depression, psoriasis, eczema and neurodermatitis. During
phototherapy/light treatment a patient is being exposed to
sunlight or bright artificial light.

Generalization
After the student teacher’s discussion, she will ask the students to get
their answer sheets from the pretest and asked them to check it. She will
ask the class which of the items are application of visible light and what
application it is.
