The study of hooliganism is therefore a major step in addressing the vice. The perspectives of non-
violent football fans have consistently been overlooked in this context, and yet such supporters share
many of the same experiences and identifications as hooligans. Supporters offered opinions in focus
groups and interviews in relation to personal factors, club affiliation, community, social and class
explanations, as well as organisational and match-related aspects. This way, there will be less
irritability, more visibility for police, and less drinking. Much of these disorderly actions are
influenced by alcohol, drugs, and anger. Similarly South American football and political
administrators have managed to reduce incidences of violence at football matches.
