Science 9 Quarter 2 Performance Task No. 3 ACTIVITY TITLE: Properties of Ionic and Covalent Compound SURNAME, Name: Score: Section: Date

This document outlines an experiment to test the properties of ionic and covalent compounds using a conductivity tester. Students are provided various solid objects and liquids and must predict whether each will conduct electricity based on being an ionic or covalent compound. They then test each item using the conductivity tester and record their observations of whether the LED bulb lights up, classifying the compounds based on the results. Guide questions help the students analyze the data and determine which substances are ionic or covalent based on their conductivity.

QUARTER 2 ACTIVITY TITLE: Properties of Ionic
and Covalent Compound
SURNAME,Name: SCORE:
SECTION: DATE:
Objectives:
1. Recognize the properties of Ionic and Covalent Compounds
Materials:
Connectivity Tester, Paper Clip (uncoated), Paper Clip (coated), Rubber band, Palstic spoon, Construction Paper, Illustration board, Iron nail,
Safety pin, Push pin, Iron screw, Aluminum foil, Pencil, Coin
Procedure:
1. Make a prediction before testing each items.
2. Test the given items using the conductivity tester to determine whether they are conductors or insulators.
3. Connect each object to the free end of the wires and observe the effects on the LED bulb.
