A University of KwaZulu Natal student Ayanda Dlamini graduates with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture by
passing 20 modules in total. The marks obtained for each module (in percentage form) are given below:

4.1 Uganda has a population of 32 million adults, of which 24 million own cellular phones. If six Ugandans adults are
randomly selected, what is the probability that exactly three own a cellular phone? (6 marks)

4.2 Six hundred candidates wrote an entrance test for admission to a management course. The marks obtained by
candidates were found to be normally distributed with a mean of 132 marks and a standard deviation of 18 marks.

4.2.1 How many candidates scored between 140 and 160 marks? (4 marks)

4.2.2 If the top 60 performers were given confirmed admission, calculate the minimum mark (to the nearest
integer) above which a candidate would be guaranteed admission. (4 marks)

4.3 At a major retail store, 25% of the employees use internet banking. For a randomly selected group of five employees,
calculate the probability that three use internet banking. (6 marks)
