5.3.1.2 Oil Change

An oil change should be carried out at least every 2 years, in case of synthetic products every 4 years. When
changing the oil clean the gear unit thoroughly.

No. Procedure

1 Make sure the geared motor is standing still and recurred against re-activation.
2 Investigate the motor with respect to its posi-
tion of installation. The motors are installed
horizontally (position H3 or H4). Which of the oil level
screws are for draining or for filling depends
on the position. vent

drain

3 Place a container under the gear unit to collect the used oil. Open vent and drain screws and wait till
the oil is drained completely.
4 Clean the gear unit thoroughly from sediments and oil residues.
5 Close the oil discharge and loosen the corresponding plug screw through which the unit is to be filled.
6 Fill the gear unit with the intended amount of oil (4,7 l). Use an oil of viscosity class VG 220. Generally
(and also when initially filled by factory) a mineral oil is applied. Alternatively, synthetic oil or flux grease
can be used. The table below provides a selection of suitable lubricants.
Caution:
Never mix different lubricants – like mineral oils, synthetic oils or grease, neither
for use nor for removal!

7 Re-tighten all plug screws thoroughly.

8 Remove all evidences of oil and deposit the used oil according to any applicable environmental regula-
tions.
