These two maps distinguish the major changes in the Langley town from the years 1910 to 1950.
Overall, there has been a lot of modern progress with development of residential accommodation, fancy park and small-scale
businesses in these 40 years.
Firstly, the factory and small houses lined across Sherman Street in 1910 is replaced by Sherman Mansion in 1950. Previously, the
Badlands located on either the side of the Sharman Street are turned into a beautiful park with children’s playing area. Even other shops
had shifted there in 1950.
Moreover, in 1910 a railway line ran through the neighbourhood, by 1950 this had been removed. Many stores were opened in that area
along the new lane. Also, in 1950 the town houses built along the Jordan street were rather replaced by large flats that looked more
spacious in the surrounding.

The maps demonstrate the town of Langley in 1910 and later in 1950. Preparing for IELTS
Overall, wasteland and working areas were utilized to build larger buildings and turn the space into a housing area with facilities.
In 1910, wasteland took the majority of space with two lands lying opposite to each other, one contained a factory while the other

Moving forward, in the year 1950, all wasteland was demolished, as well as the railway line and the workers' cottages, proving area for a

It shows the rise of bigger buildings and removal of wasteland and railway line during this transition.
In detail, the town of Langley started with 2 streets, namely Jordan and Sherman street. Factories and wastelands were abundant

shops located in the northeastern part of the map. A train might be used for transportation which can be evidenced by a railway line on
the southern part.
On the other hand, Langley in 1950s was developed into an urban living. An additional street has risen which is named New Lane which
can be seen in the southeastern part of the map. Sherman street and Jordan street are still visible with an improved infrastructure and
architectural buildings. The houses became mansions, while the townhouses were upgraded to Langley flats. The wasteland has been

Hello!!! I'm struggling with the writing task so if any of you can give me a feedback I will be really grateful
The maps represents the composition of Lagley town in 1910 and its development after forty years.
The set up of the town had changed drastically over the years, both in the types of buildings as well as in the streets arrangement,
where have been add a new street and the other two streets have been connected to each other. This was possible due to the transition
of types of house buildings, where single houses have been replaced by flats, which are placed only in the left side of the road.
At the same time Sherman street had a major improvement, where once there was the factory now there are mansions with an easy
access to the new park, placed on the other side of the street, that replaced the westeland and railway workers’ cottage. This space has
not only been used for the park, in addition to that the New lane street has been built along with several stores. In front of them the
caffe and laundry has been shifted in an upper position compared to the one they were in 1910, ending up being in the same side of the
road next to each other.

Overall, it can be clearly seen that the biggest changes over the 40-year period include: the factory and the wasteland demolishment
Preparing for IELTS
and the transition from an industrial and working town to quite a welcoming and family area.
In the year 1910, there was a huge factory to the North and both northern and southern sides of the town were occupied by the
wasteland. However, by the year 1950 the southern wasteland and railway workers' cottages had been destroyed to make way for the
Sherman park with a children's play area to the south eastern side of it and stores across the road, which provided the construction of a
new street called New Lane.
Another big change was provided by the factory and north eastern wasteland demolishment, which held to Sherman mansions being
set up and the laundry and the cafe being moved to the previous location of the wasteland.
In addition, townhouses on Jordan street were combined together into three big buildings with flats and replaced to the western side of
the town, therefore connecting the roads of Jordan and Sherman streets.

street’s townhouses were also renovated into Sherman Mansions, which took over one of the wastelands that once hoarded Langley.
Replacing the row of Sherman townhouses was a central park. The park is saturated with nature and even adopts a lake in the centre-
along with the greenery, a children’s play area was built as well. The park also replaced the other wasteland in Langley.
With more room for accommodation in 1950, more facilities for its citizens were to be set in place. By 1950, the amount of stores
increased by three-fold, and the cafe and laundry were developed in a more spaced environment. Unlike 1910, where all facilities left the
shops with no room to breath, the new and improved design allowed for more room for pedestrians to walk. Another drastic difference
were the new roads and intersections that had been built. This increased efficiency in transportation for the town.
Looking at the big picture, Langley has made major changes ranging from it’s residential accommodation to its environmental
development.

been replaced by 3 tall buildings that has many flat and it is now connected with sherman street. The townhouses that were present on
both the sides of sherman street in 1910 has been deconstructed in 1950 along with the factory. To the north of it, Sherman Manisons
have been built with 3 tall buildings. Café and Laundry which were situated opposite to each other on the sherman street are now
constructed together on the wasteland.
In additon to this, a new lane has been made to the south-east of the map where Railway worker’s cottages were present alongwith the
railway line which are now demolished. It has divided the wasteland situated to the south of sherman street in to two halves. The left
side is turned in to a very beautiful garden which has a lake and children’s play area with some children rides whereas, on the other half,

There were townhouses, a factory and a few Wasteland in the 1910s in Langley. However the 1950s, there was not in Langley. They
were building Sherman Mansions and flats, also they added 2 new stores and a park in Langley.
Probably, more people lived in the 1950s than 1910s. So, they more made houses, stores and a park for themselves.

Your answer is not bad, but capitalization mistakes will probably lower your score. Although all of the labels on the maps are
capitalized, you should only cpaitalize proper nouns in your writing. For example, flats and north (line 5), factory (line 6),
laundry, cafe, wasteland, and old laundry (line 7) are common nouns and should not be capitalized. Mansions should not be
capitalized unless you insert Sherman before it; then it becomes a proper noun. Good luck.
