Report Waste Management Peru 20210322

This report provides an overview of waste management opportunities for Dutch companies in Peru. It finds that while Peru generates over 7 million tons of municipal solid waste annually, only a small percentage is properly collected and disposed of, with most waste ending up in dumps. There are opportunities to help Peru improve waste collection, disposal infrastructure like sanitary landfills, and develop recycling systems. Legislation on extended producer responsibility is in the works for tires, batteries and packaging, which could drive recycling market growth. Some promising partnerships between Peruvian and Dutch companies on plastics recycling have already launched. Overall, the report identifies gaps and challenges in Peru's waste sector that Dutch circular economy expertise and technologies could help address.
