SPECIALIZED ABBREVIATIONS

Notes

a. This list contains, abbreviations of ranks, appointments, honours,

awards and military qualifications which are in common use in the
Army. Some frequently used ranks, appointments and titles of
higher defence organisation, Pakistan Navy and Pakistan Air Force
have also been included.

b. Different categories of abbreviations have been segregated and

listed separately for ease of reference. Although the abbreviations
have been listed generally in alphabetic order, the heads of each
organisation and their senior assistants have been listed on top; eg,
Chief of the Army Staff, Vice Chief of the Army Staff etc. Also,
ranks have been listed in their order of seniority.

c. In case of appointments, only the more important ones have been

listed. Where appropriate, the letters A, D, DA, Dy etc may be added

SECTION 66 – AMMUNITION ABBREVIATIONS
NOTES

1. The abbreviations are similar, in most cases, to operational ammunition

markings found on ammunition packages. The abbreviations shown in the
tables will be used in the field for demands messages, signals and reports
relating to ammunition.
2. It must be remembered that the abbreviations afford no security it
messages are intercepted by the enemy.
3. When using the abbreviations, quantities must be used last, for example:

4. When it is necessary to indicate a decimal the word ‘POINT’ will be used.
5. Where symbols appear in the tables action given below is necessary:-
*Insert model number, mark or type as required.
*Insert colour as required.
6. For reasons of security certain natures and types have not been included.
As and when security is lifted amendments to the tables will be issued.
