UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY, BANNU

KHYBER PAKHTUNKHWA, PAKISTAN
Department of Electrical Engineering
Introduction:
The Department of Electrical Engineering was established in 2011 in the Institute of
Engineering & Computing Sciences (IECS), University of Science & Technology Bannu.
In the year 2015, the University bodies decomposed IECS and created separate faculty
"Faculty of Engineering" which comprises Department of Electrical Engineering and
Department of Software Engineering, which are currently located in the newly
constructed Engineering Block at the Main Campus of the University.

The Department offers academic program, designed to build a strong foundation in the
fundamentals of Electrical Engineering along with specialized courses to cover the
breadth of the ever expanding realm of Electrical Engineering. The department aims to
develop abilities in the students for the application of necessary mathematical tools,
scientific basics and fundamental knowledge of Electrical Engineering.

Vision
To become a premier department renowned for its quality education, research and
ingenious graduates. We revere to develop new forms of knowledge transfer to the
economy and thereby contribute value to the knowledge-based economy and society.
We mould youth into world-class technocrats of tomorrow who would endeavor
promising headways to increase the quality of life for mankind.

Mission
The mission of the Department of Electrical Engineering is to impart accessible, high
quality, and effective education in electrical engineering through excellence in teaching,
research and entrepreneurship, to produce graduates who are capable of taking
leadership positions in the broad aspects of electrical engineering, are sensitive to the
environmental, social, safety and economic context, innovatively develop the economy
and public services to present effective socio-economical solutions for complex
problems and are able to engage in lifelong learning.

Washington Accord and Outcome Based Education

The Department of Electrical Engineering has adopted the Outcome Based Education (OBE)
Teaching Learning framework on the direction of the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) after it
has signed the Washington Accord in 2017. The Washington Accord is an international
accreditation agreement for professional engineering academic degrees, between the bodies
responsible for accreditation in its signatory countries. Graduates of accredited programs in any
of the signatory countries are recognized by the other signatory countries as having met the
academic requirements for entry to the practice of engineering. Hence, the degree earned at the
Department of Electrical Engineering at the UST Bannu, after Level-II accreditation of PEC will
be considered equivalent to a similar degree in the member states of the Washington Accord
signatories.

The Outcome Based Education (OBE) is a process that involves the restructuring of curriculum,
assessment and reporting practices in education to reflect the achievement of high order
learning and mastery rather than accumulation of course credit. It’s not what we teach; it’s what
the students learn. The OBE is adopted to address mismatches between employers and
graduates. Students main concerns are GRADES, Employers are looking for KNOWLEDGE,
ATTITUDE and SKILLS.

Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)

Program Education Objectives (PEOs) are broad statements that describe what graduates are
expected to achieve a few years after graduation. The following PEOs are devised for the
Electrical Engineering Program at UST Bannu:

The graduates will be able to contribute to research, design and development work,
PEO - 1 and serve the community through the effective use of knowledge and techniques of
the Electrical Engineering domain.
The graduates will be able to demonstrate commitment to ethical practices,
PEO - 2 community service, and societal contribution while undertaking a task; individually
or in a team.
The graduates will be able to exhibit leadership, managerial, and communication
PEO - 3
skills and lifelong learning.

Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs)

Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs) are statements that describe what students are expected
to know and able to perform or attain by the time of graduation in terms of skills, knowledge and
behavior / attitude that the student acquire after following the program. The Department of
Electrical Engineering has adopted the PLOs / graduate attributes as defined in PEC EAB
Manual 2014 and these are supported by our defined PEOs.
