Site Planning
• New Couch is longer than existing model -
Long version is standard
• Two Console Units - Boxes -
• Reinforced gantry base - New bringing-in jigs - FSM3123

Refer to the relevant Product Data

and Site Planning Manual

© Toshiba Medical Systems Corporation 2003 12

Site Planning - Installation
Two console units
• CPU Box and Reconstruction Box
• Keyboard and monitor cables - standard length is 1.5m -
Connect to CPU Box
• Maximum cable length for D-console is 6 m
• Casters under chassis not for bringing-in but for service use
after installation - Use transportation tool for bringing-in
• Keep system transformer away from the console

Cables between units

• 6 m between CPU-Box and Rec-Box - also optical cable -
• DAS optical cable from the gantry connects to Rec-Box
Keep the protection caps of the optical cables at a safe place on site

© Toshiba Medical Systems Corporation 2003 13

Installation - Console
• Capacity of AC 100V outlet is larger than previous consoles
Don’t connect other company’s equipment!
• Do not touch the surface of the Octane2 connectors with bare
hands as this causes damage to the connectors which is not
covered by warranty
Two C-POP covers for Octane2 are included with console accessories -
also keep them available at the site -
• Maximum calibration data to be stored is 400 stages
- Make an appropriate selection
- Calibration is time consuming

© Toshiba Medical Systems Corporation 2003 14

Tube Alignment
• X-ray tube alignment should be done with SMALL focus
Most applicable scan conditions use SMALL focus

• Use the F/B and L/R alignment programs

V1.30 - has F/B alignment program available

© Toshiba Medical Systems Corporation 2003 15

Tube F/B Alignment
• Data is registered by Quit
• No scan - no new registration
• Registered data has no meaning in software

This section was once meant for future use

Limitation of input value for Large Focus

Tube L/R Alignment

• An abnormal image* may occur with 4 row MUSCOT
reconstruction if L/R alignment value for LF out of range
(448.0 =< x < 448.5)
This is caused by a shortcoming of the reconstruction firmware

• Temporary workaround:
Align the tube as usual with Small Focus
Check the LF center channel offset value as usual
If less than 448.0 - Input 448.0
If more than 448.5 - Input 448.49

• LF may be out of range if there is a big difference with SF

• Corrected in V1.40
* FSM CT3189

Operation
• After switching on the gantry, allow one minute for GCIF-D
initialization before using the system
• 80kV and 100kV are not standard but can be enabled
- Special Configuration -
• Dose Reduction wedge (DR) is enabled - default setting -
- Special configuration - Calibrations!
• Automatic air calibration can take long
- Set only the necessary warm up scan conditions -
• Calibration window opens with “air” calibration menu
- Select NRA to take NRA data -
• Wait for at least 30 seconds after switching off the gantry
before switching on again - to avoid damage to the DD
motor controller -
