Design Sheet

This document contains correspondence between NTPC and a contractor regarding design calculations for a 250 KLD sewage treatment plant. NTPC provided comments on the initial calculations requesting additions and changes such as including calculations for diffusers, an anoxic tank, sizing screens and grit chambers appropriately, and considering peak flow for some components. The contractor responded addressing each comment by making the requested changes or clarifications to the design calculations. NTPC then accepted the contractor's responses.

1.0 INTRODUCTION

The quantity of the sewage from the plant is:

AVERAGE FLOW – 15 m3/ Hr
PEAK FLOW – 45 m3/ Hr
Sewage treatment is the processing of removing contaminants from wastewater, primarily from
household sewage it includes physical, chemical, and biological processes to remove these
contaminants and produce environmentally safer treated wastewater. A byproduct of sewage
treatment is usually a semi solid waste or slurry called sewage sludge which is decomposed and
can be safely sent for disposal or land application. The average quantity of the sewage from the
plant is about 250 m3/day.

2.0 SEWAGE CHARACTERISTICS

Treatment process shall be MBBR (Moving Bed Bio-Reactor). Inlet & Outlet parameters
shall be considered for designing the Sewage Treatment Plant as under: -
