SEARCH ENGINE
A Search Engine is a software that searches
webpages for information on a particular topic. The
topic on which information is required is specified in
the form of keywords.
EMAIL
Email (Electronic Mail) is one of the most widely used means of
communication these days. To use the Email, you need a Email
account. An email address consists of username and a domain
name. They are separated by the @ symbol.

COMPONENTS OF EMAIL
➔ Inbox - It displays the details of the mails sent to you. You can
click on the email to view its contents.
➔ Compose Email - You can send a email after composing it. It
contains the following:
● To: In this field, you write the email address of the recipient. The people
whose email addresses are typed here are the primary mail recipients.
● CC(Carbon Copy) - This field allows you to direct a copy of your mail to
secondary recipients. Every recipient will be able to see other recipients
who have received the mail.
● BCC(Blind Carbon Copy) - This field allows you to direct a copy
of your mail to recipients secretly. No Recipient will be able to
see the email addresses part of the BCC category.
● Subject - It is a short title that gives the objective of your email.
● Attachments - You can send pictures, videos, documents or any other
files with your mail with the help of this option.
➔ Replying to a mail - After reading a email, you can reply to them.
➔ Forwarding a mail - You can share an email you received with
anyone by sending a copy to him/her.
➔ Contact List or Address Book - Here, you can store the email
addresses of your contacts.
➔ Spam Folder - An unwanted email that is sent to many people is known
as spam mail. This is mostly a business account. You can make
use of the REPORT SPAM FEATURE to block emails from the
sender. A Spam folder contains all the spam mail.
➔ Sent Folder - This folder contains all the emails sent by you.
CHAT
Real time textual communication between two or more users through
the help of electronics is called chat. It has become very popular these
days. It is a simpler and secure way of communicating with your friends and
family. Some examples of messengers are: Whatsapp & Google Hangout. Even
video chatting is popular today like Skype & Apple facetime.

BLOGS & WEB FEEDS
The word blog is a short form for the word weblog. It is a website or part of a
website that contains person diary-type entries in the reverse chronological
order. It may be in the form of a text, video, audio and even links to other
websites (hyperlinks). Some blogs focus on a particular topic while some are
personal diaries and journals which showcase the users experiences and
his/her opinions.
The activity of updating your blogs are called blogging and the one who
maintains a blog is called a blogger. Writing on a blog is also called posting
entries.
Web feeds are websites that are also updated frequently and give information
but unlike blogs that are far more personal, web feeds are written in a neutral
point of view. It is important for the writer of a web feed to not show his/her
feelings.
You will usually see the icon on a webpage. It indicates that a web feed
is available.
The two main web feed formats are RSS (Rich Site Summary or Really Simple
Syndication) & Atom.
