Installing Reshade for Microsoft Flight

Simulator 2020

Instructions:
1. Download Reshade from this link
a. Note: Version linked is 5.9.2. As of Jan 24 version 6.0 has been released but
there are some computability issues.

2. Run the ReShade.exe

3. Click Browser

4. Locate the Microsoft Flight Simulator folder:


a. Example location for STEAM version: C:\Program Files
(x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\MicrosoftFlightSimulator
b. Example location for MS Store version: C:\XboxGames\Microsoft Flight
Simulator\Content

5. Select the:
a. FlightSimulator.exe for STEAM version
b. gamelaunchhelper.exe for MS Store version

6. Click Open

7. Click Next

8. Select Microsoft DirectX 10/11/12 and click Next

9. Click Skip

10. Press Uncheck All and then Check All so that all boxes have a black tick. Click Next

11. Click Finish.

Steps 12 to 14 is for installing Noptic Apple reshade only:


12. Download the Copy_Content_to_Reshade_folder.7z from Discord - link

13. Also download the Scottish_Apple_V1.0.ini file from the noptic-apple channel –

14. Extract the download .ZIP

15. Copy the contents (Shaders and Textures folder) to the reshade-shaders folder. The
reshade-shaders is located in the same location that you chose in Step 6

16. Open MSFS and load into any aircraft/ location.

17. Once load press the Home key. The Reshade menu should appear. Click Skip Tutorial

18. Click on the Settings bar at the top. This section will allow to various settings,
including changing the Overlay key (default is HOME key), and setting keys to toggle
Reshade On/Off and take screenshots.

Tip: If using Reshade to take screenshots, use Portable Network Graphics for the
Screenshot format.

19. Click on the Home tab

20. Click on the ReShadePreset blue box at the top

21. A box will appear. You will now need to navigate to where you saved/downloaded the
preset.ini file and select the preset.

22. If the install process is successful you will find the below effects are ticked. You can
ignore others effects which failed to compile (red text.

23. Final step is to ensure the Performance Mode is ticked in the bottom right.

FAQs:
There are duplicated effects?
• If an effect appears twice you have the effect installed twice. Navigate to your
reshade-shaders folder and search for the effect in file explorer, then delete one of
the effects.

Black Screen?
• This could be due to an incompatible version of Reshade (E.g v6.0)
• Check that in the Textures folder within the reshade-shaders folder to confirm that
the LUT file (26a.png is present).

• If you still have a black screen, this may be due to the LUT.fx effect. You can
download this preset which is exactly the same but uses an alternative effect to apply
the LUT. This may fix your issues.

Installing ARPC:

1. Download ARPC 1.2.2 (SU14 +) from this link:

2. Extract the .ZIP, there should be 3 files once extracted.

3. Copy and paste the files into the Contents folder – this is the same location as the
Flightsimulator.exe (see Reshade install Step 6)

4. Open MSFS and load into any location/ aircraft, set the time to sunset/ sunrise.
5. With MSFS running, open the MSFS2020.ARPC.ini file. Right click and use Open with
to open with a text editor of your choice (e.g., Notepad, Sublime Text).

6. Change the RED, GREEN, BLUE values (highlighted below) and then save the file –
(Control+S). You should then see the sky colours change in MSFS.
The values can be found in the noptic-apple channel - link

If it doesn’t work, one solution is delete the space between the = and –

7. If you are unsure if it has worked, below is a link to a reference screenshot which you
can compare against. This is with the Noptic-Apple (Scottish_Apple_V1.0.ini) preset
and ARPC Option 1 values.
Make sure the time and date, weather is set the same and if it looks the same then
ARPC has been installed correctly!
