The document discusses a study on factors affecting senior high school track preferences of grade 9 students in Dr. Ramon de Santos National High School. It found that family and personality factors most influenced track preferences, while peers and bandwagon effects had less influence. Most students were unsure of what track to take for senior high, though all planned to continue their education. It recommends career guidance programs to help students make choices based on their own talents and interests rather than hearsay or peer pressure.

High School
Conclusion
• The Grade 9 students of Dr. Ramon de
Santos National High School are of 15-16
years of age, and majority of the respondents
are females.
• The parents of the respondents are mostly
college graduate and mothers who are default
as housewives and fathers in blue-collar jobs
dominate the list.
• Most of the students belong to families
with unknown socioeconomic status.
• Majority of the students will pursue
Engineering, followed by Medicine, Arts
and other fields.
• In the area of Personality factors, fitting the
personality to career is the leading factor. The
same goes for awareness of the family
support on the area of family factors, following
a friend’s track in peer influence and hearsays
about the most opportunity in college
admission in bandwagon effect.
• The students were influenced by Family and
Personality factors in choosing their track
preference. Peers and Bandwagon Effect have less
influence on the students in choosing their track
preference.
• All of the respondents will continue in Senior High
School but still unsure on what track to take.
Recommendations
• A career guidance program which aims at the
student’s self-awareness of their personality,
interests, strength and weaknesses in choosing a
track.
• The guidance office should identify students who
have problems in choosing a track and offer to
counsel.
• Parents should support the passion, interests and
strength of their children.
• Students should base on their talent, skill
and ability in choosing a senior high
school track.
• Students should know what they wanted
to become.
• Listening to peers is not always right.
• Students should decide on their
own or get a help from the
guidance counsellor if they are
having a hard time choosing a
track. Don’t listen to hearsays.
