Self- Assessment Analysis

I have done quite a few self- assessments throughout my career and academic life, but I

never get tired of them. It has been interesting to see how much I have changed over the past 21

years both professionally and personally. Before this course I had not come across the Kuder

assessments, so it was exciting to take them and see what the outcomes were, I am happy to

share them here in my analysis.

Section 1: Kuder Career Interests

In the Kuder Career Interests Assessment my results showed that my code is ESA. The

“E” stands for Enterprising. Enterprising is explained in the assessment as being interested in

activities that achieve economic gain as well as personal or organizational goals. Confident in

persuasive, leadership, sales, and entrepreneurial skills. Solves problems by using social

influence, control, and traditional beliefs (Kuder, 2023). The “S” stands for social and shows an

interest in activities that include working to inform, develop, heal, and teach other people.

Confident in developing and growing human relationships. Solves problems through empathy,

helping others to succeed, and seeking mutuality (Kuder, 2023). And the “A” stands for Artistic

which represents an interest in activities that include working with physical, verbal, or human

materials to create art, products, or communication. Confident in language, art, music, drama,

and writing skills. Solves problems by using intuition, expressiveness, and originality (Kuder). I

agree with some of the career interests but others I couldn’t relate to at all. I would never be

interested in sales, and I’ve never had a personal entrepreneurial skill, regarding wanting to start

my own business but I do have a passion for working with startup organizations. The best time

for me in my career was the five years I worked at a start-up called Iora Primary Care before it

went public. The constant innovation and creating new concepts and workflows excited me and
3

kept me motivated. I wouldn’t say I have any interest in the artistic type careers, but I do like to

solve problems using my intuition which isn’t always a good thing when you need data to back

you up when trying to solve problems. I found this assessment helped provide me with

perspective on what I like and dislike. It is good to reflect. I want to use these assessments as a

guide for my next job. Knowing what I like to do and what fulfills me the most will help guide

me in my future roles.

Section 2: Kuder Skills and Work Values-based Assessment

The Kuder Skills Confidence Assessment gave me a Holland Code of S (Social), C

(Conventional), and I (Investigative). What I noticed about this score is that social came up

again. Social was in my Kuder Career Interests. I agree with this, I have been in the medical field

for over 21 years. I started off as a Medical Assistant and was working towards being a PA, then

Nurse but then changed my goals to leadership in the medical field because I felt I could help

make changes and help patients behind the scenes and make decisions that would impact patients

positively. I do like to teach others and work at finding efficient ways of getting things done. I

need human interaction and I work at developing relationships with others. Empathy is one of the

values I live daily. As far as the conventional score I am confident in some of them, I like to pull

data and have structure, but I also do not like those things. I think I like them when they benefit

me and what I am looking for but if they don’t then I’m disengaged. The investigative part made

me think I maybe messed up on the assessment because I do not care for mathematics, I can get

things done and am confident in my skills, I can perform as needed but I am not interested in

doing them as part of my career. I do like to find information and I’m curious about how things

work so the creative investigation everything is something I do for fun and work. I can perform

analysis and retrieve data and I enjoy doing this, but I want to get more training and knowledge
4

behind tools that help with data analysis. After I graduate from ASU, I plan on doing some

training in this area to improve my technical skills. I didn’t see any occupations that incorporate

the SCI code specifically, but it was interesting that Medical Assistant was on my occupations to

explore It helps me to know I went I the right direction when I was starting off my career. Two

careers I would enjoy on the list are Critical Care Nurse and Emergency Management Director.

Super’s Work Values Inventory was a cool assessment, I like that it seemed to align with

my values. Lifestyle, Income, Independence, and Supervision were my top four and I agree with

those. Unfortunately, my occupations to explore list did not have many options on it.

Section 3: Career Anchors

The Motivation and Career Anchors Assessment I had never taken before. I have found

my goals changing as I get older and life changes. I am now. a grandma so my priorities are

different. I used to find a lot of meaning with my work and the career path I was on. My

professional life was part of my identity and as I have gotten older, I don’t want work to be a big

part of my identity so work life views have shifted for me. In the Anchors Assessment my

primary career anchor was Autonomy/ Independence, and my secondary career anchor was

security, stability, and Organizational identity. I can agree with both I do like doing things my

own way and this is because I like to do things in a way that make sense and flow easily. I like to

build processes for others based on these as well. I also like to do them on my own time, there

are times of the day that work better for me but in a rigid 8 to 5am job this is hard. I was the

happiest in my career working from home and I am working towards getting to that place again.

In the past I did feel a strong sense of loyalty to organizational, but I no longer have that in me. I

have seen people get laid off and people who have given all they had to a company to then be

dismissed. I give what I get and when my needs are no longer met, I have an obligation to myself
5

only to move on and fulfill my needs. My Ideal job would probably be an independent consultant

for startup organizations in the capacity of leadership and process improvement. My secondary

career anchor is spot on given that all my needs are being met which includes me being

financially stable and making the wages I deserve. I also need to feel emotionally secure. I also

need to be where my family so I am deeply rooted in Arizona and If I did have an amazing

opportunity in a place outside of Arizona, I would take it if my son and his family would come

too, the location would have to be a good community for families. My lowest scoring anchor was

pure challenge I agree! Life is challenging and my daily work is challenging and I feel like

everything is constantly in survival mode being in the medical field so I am challenge fatigued

and I do not need it, but I think I lived a lot of my life looking for the next challenge and pushing

myself and now I’m in a spot where I want to rest and just enjoy life with some peace, rest and

relaxation.

Section 4: Additional Self Assessments

As the first additional self- assessment I took the DISC personality test, I am sure I have

taken this test before, but I couldn’t find the results in my files. The highest score was influence

(41%), then steadiness (34%) and my lowest two scores were: compliance (14%) and dominance

(12%). I can agree with these scores I love communicating with people and I have empathy, I try

to be friendly and treat people the way I want to be treated. I am a people person. The second

highest was steadiness, I think is also on point. I am patient and thoughtful and of course I am

persistent I do not give up. The second assessment I took was the Big 5 personality test. I scored

85 on agreeableness, 70 on conscientiousness, 58 on openness to experience, 53 on extraversion

and 17. The 3rd test I took was the Humanmetrics Jung Typology Test and my results were ENFJ

which are Extravert (19%), intuitive (3%), Feeling (56%) and Judging (12%). I like this test and
6

I have taken the Insights discovery test in the past for work. ENFJ suits me but it’s funny because

yes It describes me, but I feel like my personality also exhausts me at the end of the day. It’s like

I have two parts to me I love being the extrovert and in the moment it’s amazing but after I feel

drained. I have learned to listen to myself more and save some of my energy in the moment so

that I am not too exhausted by the end of an encounter or event. I think the most useful

assessment tool for me was the insights discovery test because it was one of the first tests I took

as a manager, and my leader used it to help me develop my skills as a leader. It was the

beginning for me, and I am going to be adding this one to my Portfolio. I have had it saved for

years and it was exciting to go back and review it while I was writing this analysis.
