 Illustrate your answers with practical examples where necessary.
PART A
(Compulsory Questions) (10 x04 = 40 Marks)

1. Answer the following questions.


i. "COVID-19 has altered the way work is carried out in many organizations worldwide".
Discuss in brief the role of HR in this time of uncertainty.

ii. Explain what is meant by a "Collective Agreement" and indicate the benefits of a collective
agreement to the employer.
iii. Distinguish between the terms "Digitization" and "Digitalization". Indicate two benefits of
"Digitalization" for organizations.

iv. What are the objectives of conducting a "Preliminary Investigation" in the case of grave
misconduct committed by an employee?

v. Briefly describe four advantages of having a Trade Union in your organization.

vi. What factors could be considered to analyze the "Labour Demand" in an Organization?

vii. Explain why "Change Management" is considered a must in today's business environment
and what role can Human Resource Management play in the "Change Management"
process.

viii. "Testing candidates for various skills and competencies is mandatory in selecting the ideal
candidate". Indicate four types of "Tests" used in the "Selection Process”.

ix. What is the contribution HRM needs to commit for "Knowledge Management" in an
organization and state two benefits of "Knowledge Management"?

x. "Ethical conduct of employees in an organization paves the way for a sustainable business
culture in an organization". Briefly indicate how ethics can be beneficial for an organization.

PART B
[Answer three (03) questions only] (20x03 = 60 Marks)

2) Conducting Training programmes is of great value to organizations in promoting different


competency levels of employees. However, conducting training programmes is not adequate to
complete training efforts, but evaluating the effectiveness of training is also essential. Explain in
detail how training evaluations can be done with examples.

3) "The contemporary business environment is changing at an unprecedented pace, and multiple


external environmental factors affect the businesses". Assume you are an HR Manager in an
organization engaged in the export of various spices overseas and analyze how three PESTEL
factors affect the operations of this business in the face of COVID19.

4) "The process of Job Analysis is creating value in various ways, and there are two main by-products
of this Process". Explain in detail the two main by-products of the Job Analysis process,
highlighting the use of these by-products.

5) Describe the duties/responsibilities of the Employer, Employee, and the Line Manager for ensuring
the Health and Safety of Employees.

6) "Accurate measurement of performance of employees will ensure the effective implementation of


a proper reward management strategy". Explain in detail why Reward Management is essential
and at what levels performance can be measured for employee rewards.
