Selective Breeding Vs. Natural Selection
Selective breeding has been used for many years to achieve the expression of desired
traits in animals and plants. Similar to natural selection, humans have developed artificial
selection where humans select the most desirable traits instead of the environment, this
is what s known as selective breeding. But in fact selective breeding does not select for
the fittest phenotype like in natural selectionit actually selects for the most desirable
phenotypes which may cause harm to the individual.
Natural selection selects against harmful alleles as they are disadvantageous to the
individual and possibly restricts its ability to survive till the age of sexual reproduction
thus not being able to pass on this harmful gene, whereas selective breeding selects for
harmful alleles if seen desirable.
Selective breeding involves breeding organisms based on their phenotypes so that the
desired traits are passed onto successive generations, these desired alleles then increase
(in frequency) in the gene pool. This has a large commercial benefit as animal and crop
products now contain higher quality meat, quantity of milk, quality of wool, larger fruits
etc.
The goal of selective breeding in animals is to either produce a pure breed (a breed that
will consistently produce offspring with the desired traits or to simply improve the
quality of the desired trait/phenotype (homozygous). This is achieved by inbreeding
(where two closely related individuals mate and produce offspring)
In selective

The Bolshevik Revolution of October 1917-Essay Review
In 1917, in the midst of the Great War, Russia faced one of the biggest political shifts that
the Tsarist ruled country had ever known the Bolshevik Revolution. There are two
significant time frames associated with the Bolshevik Revolution. In the February
revolution Tsar Nicholas II abdicated his throne and a Provisional Government took
control. In the October revolutionthe Bolsheviks took power by overthrowing the
Provisional Government. How did the October revolution become a reality? What factors
facilitated the BolshevikRevolution of October 1917? Two important factors were the
July event at Taurida Palace, and the Kornilov Affair. Richard Pipes describes in detail
how Lenin influenced the Bolshevik party throughout the... Show more content on

After the July event, Lvov s resignation, Kerensky took control as the new Prime
Minister.
Richard Pipes gives a detailed account of the events that led up to the July event and the
Bolsheviks preparedness. The Bolsheviks were opportunists and used propaganda to
influence and agitate, gives credit to their political strategy. The Bolsheviks saw an
opportunity and used it. They also understood that their timing had to be flawless. They
did not want to quell the frenzy they had created among the mutineers; however, a
premature large scale uprising would give the Provisional Government an excuse to crush
them. Although the July event was a setback for the Bolsheviks, it did create a growing
dissatisfaction among the soldiers. Many had no more will to fight, and lost their faith in
the government. This would prove crucial when Kerensky would, with failed attempts,
call on them to defend the Winter Palace against insurgents in the October Revolution.
An important factor that facilitated the Bolshevik Revolution was the Kornilov Affair.
Pipes and Fitzpatrick disagree in that Fitzpatrick refers to the Kornilov Affair as a coup
based on national interest. Pipes refers to the Kornilov Affair as a coup in response to
deception. Fitzpatrick writes the coup attempt by Kornilov was of his own design and
without provocation. Pipes however, establishes the Kornilov Affair was a result of
Kerensky s misperceptions. Kerensky felt that as head
Understanding The Words Culture, Management Terms, And...
Every country has different management practices. They all have unique approaches that
have been found to be the most adequate or efficient way in accomplishing specific
objectives. At some point we have heard the English terms culture, management terms,
and business culture, yet we don t have much knowledge about these terms definitions.
On the other hand, some of us are not familiar with terms such as wa , quanxi , and
inhwa , Which these terms are essential managementterms in Japan, China, and South
Korea. In this paper I will be analyzing my findings on the words culture, management
terms, businessculture, wa , quanxi , inhwa , what would be similar terms to describe
American management practices, and if these terms sufficiently capture American
management practices. Culture is a very broad word with multiple definitions. It can be
defined as the knowledge, experience, beliefs, attitude and values passed from one
generation to another. Culture can also be interpreted as a certain way of thinking and
behavior that prevail in a place or organization. On the other hand, management is the act
of controlling and most importantly making business decisions. Whereas term, is an
expression used to indicate a concept in a specific kind of language or branch of study. If
we combine the two words, management and terms, from the definition provided, the
term refers to certain terminology used in the administration process of an organization
/ entity. According to the
Monster Jam Research Paper
As we found our seats the first round of trucks had already finished. I was not that mad
about missing the first round anyway. They were not the more popular trucks that
everyone came to watch. Second round of racing was about to commence. I was a big
fan of Monster Jam as a kid, so I knew a lot of the trucks names. Maximum Destruction
came powering through the tunnel like he did not have control of the truck. The stadium
starts playing a song. All I hear is Who let the dogs out!? As I thought, Monster Mutt
came out of the tunnel and lost one of his left ear. The crowd started to whistle and
cheer, because you come to Monster Jam to see trucks crash. The race has one main
jump, a turnaround, another jump, then about three cars to drive over.... Show more

The final two competitors would freestyle at the same time for three minutes, the two
came out of opposite sided tunnels. The two trucks were doing mirrored stunts for
almost 2 minutes of the event. Then El Toro Loco parted off and revved his engine.
He then shot forward heading towards a ramp. The ramp was a strange one. It went
straight up then had cars at the top. I didn t know what was going to happen. El Toro
Loco went up the ramp then all of a sudden his truck started doing a backflip. I was in
amazement and shock at the same time. I was also scared and worried how he was
going to land and amazed that he actually just did that. When Toro Loco came down he
landed on his rear wheels and bounced up and then rode a wheelie for 3 4 seconds, the
crowd went crazy. El Toro Loco was everyone s new favorite and not the underdog
anymore. It was sad to see Grave Digger not finish top but he has been around for a
long time. It was the new comers turn to run the show. Until next time I ll still be
rooting for Grave Digger, but I will be watching for El Toro Loco from here on
