Analysis Of Grendel And The Novel The Land Of Stories
When the lens created by the anglo saxon society is removed the main antagonist in
the classic Beowulf, Grendel, is revealed to be a tortured beast who is targeted by a
religion crazed society. As stated by Chris Colfer in his novel The Land of Stories: The
Wishing Spell A villain is just a victim whose story hasn t been told, yet for many this
lesson falls on deaf ears (9). For many Grendelis a thing of nightmares, a beast straight
from hell that no villain can match. But when the society that villainizes Grendel is
examined more closely one realizes that Grendel is really just an animal who is poked
and prodded by an unrelenting society of savages. This savagery is seen in the way that
the society calls the animal an anthropomorphic... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Grendel s visual hallucinations could be a result of schizophrenia, migraines, or Charles
Bonnet syndrome, but whatever the cause of his hallucinations it is clear that Grendel
needs help (WebMD). Instead of ripping the arm off of schizophrenics, a common
treatment is therapy (Mayo Clinic). Rather than outcasting those with Charles Bonnet
syndrome most doctors instead treat the syndrome by encouraging patients to spend time
outdoors (Mayo Clinic). In one of the causes of Charles Bonnet syndrome is social
isolation (Mayo Clinic). Perhaps if the anglo saxon society gave an attempt to accept
Grendel and teach him their societal norms than they would realize that Grendel is just
an injured animal that needs help.
Not only did the anglo saxon society cause Grendel to develop Charles Bonnet syndrome
and treat Grendel as a social outcast, but they also torment the already hurt beast. When
hunting, most hunters aim for the quickest and most painless kill, but when Beowulf
hunts Grendel he chooses one of the longest and most painful methods to kill Grendel.
It is stated that Grendel let out horrible shrieks of pain and defeat, (Raffel 17).
Beowulf was meant to serve as an exterminator, but instead he becomes the devil of
Grendel s personal hell. He causes tears [to tear] out of Grendel s taut throat, a
ferocious beast who is known for being tough is brought to tears by a man who was
simply there to get Grendel away

Islamic banking is a structure that allows conducting banking activities and trades in line
with the Islamic Shari ah laws and principles by avoiding all the haram (prohibited)
activity such as interest and financing prohibited businesses.
An Islamic financial institution such as financial banking has been established before
two or three decades ago in the aim to provide satisfactory financial facilities to the
interested parties as compared to conventional banks. In 1974 Dubai Islamic bank which
is the first Islamic commercial bank was established and later Islamic Development
Bank (IDB) has been established in 1975 (Hennie and Iqbal, 2008).

According to Mousavi, Seyed M. Mahdi and Mahdavi Agha (2008) credit risk in
Islamic banks appears in the settlement risk support. This kind of credit risk arises
when the Islamic bank pays money or delivers assets before receiving its own assets or
cash and then exposing itself to potential loss. Also Islamic banks expose themselves to
credit risk when the bank uses profit sharing mechanisms of financing such as Mudarabah
and Musharakah because the entrepreneurs will not pay bank shares when it is due.
Although there are number of conventional banks that offer shari ah compliant products
in their banking services, there are two major shari ah compliant banks registered in
Kenya which all of them are under the supervision of Kenya s central bank (KCB) and
they are given the same treatment as the other conventional banks in Kenya. These are
Community Bank Limited, and Gulf African Bank. According to Azizul (1999) most
Islamic banks that are working under the contemporary world operate in a mixed
environment in which conventional banks function side by side with the Islamic banks
and there are only few instances where special Islamic banking legislation was approved
to define a new relationship between Islamic banks and the central bank. Ndungu (2010)
noted that the concept of Islamic Finance has generated a lot of interest and

The Island Of Dr Moreau God Complex Analysis
A true God Complex Upon finishing the reading of The Island Of Dr.Moreau, a clear
perception of a God Like complex is seen in the novel s antagonist the doctor himself.
While many other sadistic fictional characters have large ego s that put them in
charge, Moreau differentiates from the rest believing his work puts him in a god like
position among his creations. Thinking like a higher power, Moreau shows a strong
concern over his secret experiments as he shifts around the island working. Dr. Moreau
s life work has gone into his experimentations making him fragile when it comes to tense
situations on the island. This is picked up by Prendick as he sneaks into Moreau s
laboratory, discovering the horror that lies upon a surgical table.... Show more content on

After some time on the island, Prendick is exposed to the propaganda that spreads
through the beast s culture. They reference Moreau as being The law whom they fear
with humble bows. The beast people display this loyal attitude as they chant in
gruesome rhythm His is the Hand that wounds, his is the Hand that heals (68). The
island, their village, and the dreaded Dr.Moreau that brought them into this world is
all of what the beast people have come to apperceive, making them innocently gullible.
One such character described by Montgomery as complex trophy of Moreau s skill, a
bear, tainted with dog and ox, and one of the most elaborately made of all the creatures
seems to further his loyalty towards Moreau as the novel s plot thickens. M ling
separates himself from the other beasts as he is allowed to sleep in a kennel near the
lodge as well as being in charge of cooking and maintaining efficiency, putting himself
in an even closer relationship with his master. As Moreau and Montgomery pursue a
rebellious and vicious beast, M ling puts his life before Moreau s as he attacks other
beasts protecting his masters. The relationship revealing a strong influence that Moreau
holds over the beasts. While M ling shows a disciple like relationship to Moreau,
another character known as The Sayer Of the Law seems to be in a biblical, Preacher type
Did Frank Morris And The Anglin Brothers Survive To
Escape...
I believe that criminals, Frank Morris and the Anglin brothers, survived their attempted
escape from Alcatraz. There are many facts supporting that they died, for example, the
man eating sharks that live in the ocean surrounding the prison. However, it s been
proven that there are no man eating sharks in the waters. In 1934, a teenage girl, 2 ten
year old kids, and fitness expert, Jack Lalanne, swam from Alcatraz to the mainland.
Although there is the possibility of hypothermia and drowning in the conditions they
were in.This proves that the swim wouldn t be too life threatening, especially if you have
a functional raft. Many believe that the raincoat raft that was built was unsuccessful,
sending the escapees into the freezing water and dying
Understanding The New Kingdom Of Egypt
Understanding the New Kingdom of Egypt
Perhaps no other culture has intrigued the human imagination as that of ancient Egypt.
From the Ancient Greeks, who treated Egypt with venerable respect, to Alexander the
Great, and Napoleon, who felt it was imperative to go there, few other cultures have
represented so much of universal value to all humans. The purpose of this paper is to
present a brief survey of the ancient New Kingdom of Egypt. An emphasis on scholarly
views will focus on culture, agriculture, Nubian Pharaohs, religion, and war. Of particular
interest is the manner in which this historical knowledge is repeatedly made relevant in
today s world.
Culture
Spanning approximately 1550 to 1070 BCE, the New Kingdom of Egypt represents a
golden age, one which was almost the opposite of the Middle Kingdom of Egypt in terms
of its accomplishments. Some of the most prestigious names of ancient Egypt come from
this period, such as Hatsetshup, the female pharaoh, Thutmose III, Ramses II, the last
warrior pharaoh of the New Kingdom, King Akhenaten, the sun worshipper, his beloved
wife Nefertiti, and Tutankhamun, the much celebrated boy king.
There is no probable way to estimate the amount of highly valued art and artifacts that
have been discovered and taken out of Egypt. Whether by contract, government
arrangement or smuggling, the allure of Egyptian art and culture has mesmerized every
other culture that beheld it. Only the size of the pyramids themselves, or the New

Difference Between Teaching And Teaching Styles
Even the smartest students have certain classes that they cannot focus in, no matter how
hard they try. Everyone knows that no one is exactly the same; for example, identical
twins may look identical at first glance, if you look more closely, you will notice
differences between the two. This basic concept applies to teachers and professors too.
Every teacher has a different teachingmethod, some people may think that the teaching
methods are the same, but it is slightly different. This difference may be due to the
different subjects that the teachers are teaching or just the difference in personalities
and teaching styles that each teacher has. These differences greatly affect students
performances in numerous of ways that one could not possibly think of. I had observed
in several of my classes to compare and contrast different teaching styles from my
professors and the students behaviors depending on the subject and the professors. The
classes that I have observed include General Chemistry 1, Calculus 2 and Asian
Behaviors and Thought (ABT). Two of these classes are the main subjects with the last
one is a general educationclass in order to see the differences better and if there are any
similarities. Calculus 2 and ABT are both classroom based courses. I chose to observe
General Chemistry 1 because unlike the other two classes, this class is a lecture, which
means there is no doubt that the teaching methods of the professors would be different.
I have observed that in
