Abstract
Data is a valuable asset to many companies. Largest companies such as TESCO, Amazon, Google,
Starbucks and Facebook uses data to make decision, plan for future and predict their future
direction. This means these companies use data effectively in order to increase profit and reduce
losses for the companies. For instance, Starbucks closed hundreds of branches in 2008 to reduce
losses. Therefore, the head of Starbucks promised that the company would take a more data
based and analytical approach to identify future stores’ locations and open new ones.
